  1. How do you guys display your auto cards with UV protection in mind? I have some Packer autos that I like to display, but I've only got a few of them in UV protected card holders (pro mold, I think). Do the Becketts have UV protection built in?
  2. .....Spoiler..... It's only a drastic departure in the comics if they move into Woodbury instead of Alexandria. The recent issues of the comics have a town/place called the latter with all of the plot elements you discuss. That was the eventual destination after they left the prison.
  3. I agree with RoCo- good episode, not an ideal finale. More like a mid-season finale before their usual mid-season gap. I thought the Andrea stuff was well done, but leaving the Governor story open is not only a huge departure from the comics, but creates a lot of intrigue for me going forward since I don't know where they're going to go with the story from here since this is where they left the prison in the books. I do worry that the new group of people and the unfinished 'Governor' storyline will have them dwell at the prison too long like the farm, but the arrival (and potential development) of the Tyrese character leaves me hoping that they've got something in mind for next season already.
  4. Franchise on the rise, sure. But Braun and Gallardo weren't in the system yet. And astute trades for Sabathia and Greinke along with the construction of the rest of the rosters is what got the team to the playoffs- not just Weeks, Hardy, Hart and Fielder.
  5. My goodness yes. We've had two playoff appearances in the last 5 seasons after having none in the previous 20 before he got here. You don't like the way he's built the team- that's well documented. But don't let your dislike of their methods cloud your judgement on the merits of what has been done here.
  6. What an amazing run by this team. Probably one of Eaves' best coaching seasons ever.
  7. A very favorable bracket for UW. If they get to the 16, they'll have a legitimate chance to be in the Final Four.
  8. Congrats to Big Ten Coach of the Year Bo Ryan!!
  9. Finally saw Silver Linings Playbook last night, and actually feel bad for Cooper- if he wasn't up against the Daniel Day Lewis machine, his performance was good enough to win. DeNiro's best role in a really, really long time as well.
  10. Badgers taking it to Minnesota in period #2. The Gophers really seem to be struggling to adjust to the outside ice, as they are over skating passes and being beaten for contested pucks consistently by Wisconsin.
  11. The progression of this team between the Florida game and tonight is remarkable, and may well be Bo's best coaching job yet. Whenever I think Wisconsin is due for a poor year and might miss the tourney, they pull it together and have a solid season. There are enough winnable games left on the schedule to get them the 18-20 wins they need at this point.
  12. Seems unlikely that Barry would have known anything considering how big a deal he made about lack of protocol and not being told until it was a done deal.
  13. But keep in mind that Melvin was the GM when they dumped Hammonds right before his bobblehead day. Not exactly the same situation, but still.
  14. That's my thought too. Seems like many Melvin deals are preceded by a virtual media blackout.
  15. Not a great way to introduce and endear yourself to other posters and the staff here. Also, a quick refresher is apparently needed on fact vs opinion on the board: A fact is an indisputable reality: For example, "Zach Greinke is a free agent after this year" An opinion is NOT fact. An opinion can be a virtual certainty, completely off base, based in reality or delusional, but it is most certainly not fact. For example, "Zach Greinke will resign with us/not resign with us after this year," the "Brewers will be competitive/terrible next year" etc are all statements of opinion, not fact. It's in everyone's best interest to remember the differences between the two when posting. No one's opinions are fact, one way or another. Please don't represent them as such. Thanks!
  16. Yeah, I think everyone would agree that offensively we need to fill a hole at SS and maybe 3B or 1B, depending on what moves we make. Hopefully the Greinke trade fills one of those. Pitching is more problematic, as Hiandtight notes. But a decent bullpen of Hawkins/Saito types can be built reasonably effectively through free agency, and if Axford rebounds, they can fill that problem quickly. The rotation is an issue, but Gallardo plus Fiers/Thornberg/Peralta and maybe Estrada/Narveson could be effective enough to keep us competitive. If Marcum comes back on a short-term deal as it's rumored he might, I think they're at least in the hunt for the division next year.
  17. Because this is still in the 'rumor discussion' phase, I'm moving the combined threads to the rumors forum to avoid confusion.
  18. If that becomes legit (big if), Andrus would be a big, big get for the Brewers. I don't think any of us care what reliever is included, and I'm assuming the bat would be someone we've already talked about trading here....
  19. I'd take a guy like Santana back if they needed us to offset Zach's salary, but not as a key part of a deal. He's been miserable this year, but he's a year removed from some great numbers and could be useful in 2013 if we wanted.
  20. That also means that teams get more desperate to keep up with their foes as well. See the White Sox- they weren't even mentioned in the Greinke rumors until the Tigers upgraded and made them have to explore options. And with Hamels and Dempster now (reportedly, in the later case) off the market, Greinke is by far the biggest prize on the market even if Johnson ends up in Texas.
  21. ...and made the trades the same week or possibly day that Greinke will be traded as well? The deadline is still nearly a week away. Are people concerned that we're going to be left at the alter without a suitor? This WHY ARE WE JUST SITTING AROUND INSTEAD OF DOING SOMETHING?!?! mentality puzzles me at this point. If it's next Monday and Zach is still a Brewer (without having signed an extension), then there's reason to wonder what's going on. Plenty of time before then.
  22. Be sure to catch the 'sequel' mini-series, The Pacific, made by the same production team/HBO. Not quite as good as BOB, but still an excellent production.
  23. Could be sowbugs, actually, though they certainly don't look like the large presumably fully grown one in that picture. Could be a younger life stage, maybe?
  24. No wings, for sure. Greyish is the best color I can describe them- I'd happily post a picture, but my camera can't focus on something this small. No pincers. Thus far, I've only seen them on the counters around my kitchen sink (I have other counters against an opposite wall), the baseboard between my dishwasher and fridge, and in the cabinets under the sink. None in upper cabinets or drawers, or anyplace that I store food thus far. Seemingly no body segments. Two antennae attached to the head/ovular body combo. Wisconsin, pretty dry so far this spring/summer, with some rain recently. Definitely not termites or Strawberry root weevils, based on the pictures I've compared them to. No plants in my place at all.
  25. Well, took steps and have had little luck- I tried detergent, fabric softener sheets, and finally Raid to try and eliminate my tiny friends. They seemed better for a day (Thursday into Friday), but saw 5 or 6 last night followed by more this morning and afternoon. I sprayed Raid a second time this evening, around a baseboard in the kitchen where I noticed 3-4 of them and along the three sides of the under-sink cabinet. I'm befuddled by these things and can't figure out what they are for sure (can't find definitive proof that they're springtails or anything else), and not having much luck otherwise. My kitchen is completely torn apart, with all of my stuff removed from the cabinets, so I don't know what they'd be feeding on or drawn to. Any additional guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
