  1. Why? Serious question. I think he showed too much in his rookie season to assume that what we see now is what's there. I think he's been dealing with some well-documented personal stuff that is causing a major distraction, and I think he's largely pressing. He should/will finish the year in the minors, barring an injury or two to the ML roster. But I don't think he's a lost cause.
  2. Why are we solely citing 2021 numbers?
  3. Gotta assume this is the end for Hiura in the majors this year. Can't make that assumption, IMO. Probably the end of him until the AAA season is over, though.
  4. Scherzer does seem like a Stearns-type move though- every one is claiming/expecting you to be pursuing big bats, so you go after a guy that makes your 4-man rotation unmatched in the playoffs instead.
  5. Also plausible that he's referring to guys he may have wanted from the North side?
  6. Yep. And clearly identified with the following qualifier:
  7. Kind of an odd deadline for a few teams. In addition to the bewildering non-strategy of the Rockies, the Braves and Phillies were apparently close enough to the Degromless Mets that they decided to buy. Seems like that may look foolish in the end, but at least I understand why they did what they did. Honestly felt like some other teams (cough....Angels) should have sold more off than they did.
  8. I guess the good news is that the Cards really didn't do much to make themselves better, and the Reds acquired three meh bullpen arms, so the Brewers probably at worst lost no ground on their NL Central competition, and likely got better-er.
  9. Wouldn't stun me to see the Brewers involved in an ultra-minor deal yet.
  10. The deal is official, per Brewers social media.
  11. Just pretend they got Adames today instead of back in May No, that is a horrible way to look at it. We are in the position we are in now because of that trade…yes, but we had an opportunity to punctuate it with some major exclamation marks. Go get Buxton. Go get inglesias. Neither of those guys were traded. Perhaps they weren't available for anything other than an absurd overpay?
  12. I'm going to go out on a completely uninformed limb and state that the Brewers had the best offer on the table for Bryant, and they chose a lesser deal with the Giants to save face, which is why it took them until so late to pull the trigger.
  13. When you spell it out like this, it really does look insane on paper that we turned those names into significant big-league contributors.
  14. Hansel Robles to the BoSox. Still deals trickling in, though mostly minor, as you'd expect.
  15. I'd bet a lot of money that we talked to the Twins today. A lot of money.
  16. You... you did see the ML forum today, right?
  17. Joakim Soria to the Jays.
  18. Last minute deal sends Jon Lester to the Cards, apparently.
  19. Basically what I expected last week- a bat and two relievers. Maybe I hoped for bigger name relievers like Rogers or Hudson, but they got a LHP and RHP. Excited about Curtiss, willing to give the org the benefit of the doubt on Norris, as they've worked wonders with similar situations in the past. Escobar was basically the type of bat/name I would have envisioned as well. Yeah, bigger names out there, but they weren't coming here barring something completely unforseen.
  20. Absolute lunacy. There is obviously SOME value to comp picks, but you simply cannot tell me that with the crazy returns sellers were getting today that the Rockies wouldn't have received a haul for Story, etc.
