  1. Would thought process be that SD would basically add prospects along with him to move the contract? If so, then and only then would I be interested. IE, JBJ for Hosmer+ Hassell or something like that would be interesting.
  2. Yep. All the moves they’ve made and they’ve still got like 3 Top 100 guys.
  3. That ‘article’ is SEC fanboy nonsense. They’re not turning their back on 130 years of history to greatly reduce their chances of making the playoff each year.
  4. Yeah, I have to agree with your take. I have to think that if the Brewers were approached with a reasonable offer for Yeli this week, they’d probably have to consider it if for no other reason than getting the contract off the books.
  5. As discussed a bit back in the thread, it appears that Scherzer would require an extension in order to waive his NT rights. As such, it seems pretty unlikely the Brewers could get involved.
  6. Notre Dame has always been the best possible mutual fit for the BigTen. The problem is that Notre Dame doesn’t want to play a Big Ten football schedule. But ND and UNC would be a fantastic rounding out of the conference.
  7. I think this part sums my opposition to your thought process, and is, again, why you and I are posting on a message board and David Stearns is running a baseball team. And running it well.
  8. With the Brewers win and Cubs loss tonight to put them 10 back, you'd have to think that removes any doubt about the Cubs selling this week. Still remains to be seen as to how far they'll go, but I'd expect them to move some of their spare parts at a minimum.
  9. Once again, there's a reason they're doing this professionally and we're posting on an internet message board. And your part here is baseball straight out of 1997 rather than modern-day thinking. The Brewers are winning with modern-day thinking. Those that are stuck in the old way of doing this are lagging behind.
  10. UNC and UVA would be such crazy basketball additions it would be insane. Both have been solid-ish in football historically, though unspectacular.
  11. Haven't said that once. Don't put words in my mouth, please. At this point, I've more than made mine. The Brewers will make smart deadline moves that will make the team better. Some will hate every one because it's not the 'name' player they have on their short list. And the Brewers will make their fourth consecutive post-season run. Sooner or later, people will start to acknowledge that the front office does know more than us, because they do.
  12. Do you know how many World Series titles the Dodgers' won with an 'all-in' mentality and a payroll more than twice the Brewers' payroll? One. In a covid-shortened weird season. You seem to think that emptying the farm is going to guarantee a World Series. It's absolutely not. You seem to forget that though the Sabathia trade was a huge deal for the franchise, they literally didn't even win a playoff series that year, let alone make a World Series run.
  13. But you know who else was a difference maker? Willy Adames. And you HATED that deal. What you're criticized for here is the fact that you have a few players in mind for who you want to acquire, and immediately hate anything else the team does. Yet, the front office has proven time and time again that they're really good at what they do. So, they'll evaluate potential deals and make the ones that make sense to them, and that's how it SHOULD work. Fans on a message board are just that. Our front office is paid to run the franchise, and they do it very well.
  14. I think someone hit the nail on the head earlier- the fact that he doesn't want to discuss what his actual issues are suggest that he or his advisors know that his issues are either small enough that they'll look trivial or are completely unreasonable, and thus won't play well in public.
  15. I mean, Rodgers has a massive history of holding grudges over small things that extends literally to all aspects of his life. Why would we assume that this is any different?
  16. Also, I understand that the proposed acquisitions were more for effect than realistic assumptions, but you’d be lucky to get two of those guys even if they trade away every asset they have in the system.
  17. Depends what you get I suppose. For some middling players, yeah it probably doesn't make sense. As part of a package to add a premium talent somewhere to the roster, that's different. Well, sort of. You’d have to subtract the regression at 3B from the value of the expected upgrade. Seems like trading Turang just makes more sense from an in-season perspective.
  18. But was good does trading Urias do for the 2021 Brewers? You’d be fixing one hole by creating another. Unless you’re packaging him as part of a deal for BOTH Rizzo and Bryant, you’re really just moving sideways.
  19. Any reason Chicago couldn’t just change the logo and become the Black Hawks? The mascot literally already works.
  20. Yeah, if you’re going to acquire a 1B that may not actually be that great offensively I’d rather go for Cron who is at least competent defensively.
  21. Just based on the organizational depth chart at this point, you’d have to assume that Turang would be involved in any major deal, and I’d say that a major deal this deadline seems very possible.
  22. Rest assured, the Brewers will make some moves. I’d put the chances of them ‘sitting on their hands’ at about 0%. They’ll make moves, and they’ll be a better team after doing so.
  23. So your plan is to package a bunch of crap and expect pure quantity (again, of crap) to return a needle-mover? If so, it’s not surprising you’re disappointed with every move the Brewers make. Where did I say that??. You package those guys WITH guys like Ashby, Small Turang etc, whatever you need to do to complete a deal. I guess you can intepret a post however you want, when it fits your agenda. By agenda, I can only presume you mean proposing realistic trades that could potentially get agreed to in real life? But seriously, I did indeed misread the intent of your comment previously, and I apologize for doing so.
  24. Cruz is an outstanding offensive addition for an AL team.
