  1. Uecker didn't even have time to call that one. "Fielder with a line drive to the alley...it's a home run."
  2. And 3TO goes yard again. If he could just stay healthy...
  3. Each episode has been getting better, so I'll keep watching it. It's pretty much just a different flavor of the Office with less humor, but it's much better than Kath and Kim.
  4. Yeah, looking back at some old IGTs, Vampire (Victor Santos) was listed as the starter.
  5. Macha hasn't been getting much heat because in some roundabout way Yost is to blame for this record. I'd give it some time. If there's one thing fans like to do, it's complain about managers/coaches. There's already been a handful of posts questioning Castro. I'm sure there's a significant group of fans that like Macha simply because he isn't Yost, but if these struggles continue into May, they won't be able to resist the urge, and we'll see a fury "he's not motivating the players enough" or "he needs to hold players accountable" posts. Exactly. A few weeks is nowhere near enough time to make an evaluation of Macha's managing.
  6. I'd probably wait a bit before coming to the conclusion that Macha is gonna scrap the defined bullpen roles. I'm guessing that when Hoffman comes back the bullpen roles will become a bit more defined.
  7. Suppan is approaching 100 pitches and will be going through the order for the 4th time. I don't care how many days rest he has or how good he's looked. Sending him out there again for another inning is dumb.
  8. Gotta wonder if we'll have a David Riske sighting tonight, although I'm not sure a six run lead is enough.
  9. Ugh, Uecker's initial enthusiasm in the call made it sound like Billy hit it to Bernie's Slide.
  10. If something can't be said in a way that promotes intelligent discussion in the existing threads does it really need to be said? I just don't see it. The vent thread usually just becomes the knee jerk reaction thread where reasoned posts are few and far between. If someone calls someone else on their comment in the vent thread, the reaction is usually along the lines of "forget it, I was venting." The vent thread provides nothing that isn't available in just about every other message board known to man.
  11. I don't see why Suppan has been getting all the flack. At least he pitched for most of the season last year. Gallardo is just an injury prone bum. Seriously though, Gallardo is my favorite player and I've never liked Suppan, but calling for Suppan's head after two starts (or eight starts if you decide to factor in September) is just another reaction based on a small sample.
  12. I guess I'm glad I can't watch the game now. At this rate we'll have to drop a bench player to add another arm in the pen for mop-up work.
  13. But compared to Suppan's batting line against we see why McClung might be a better option than Suppan. Last year: .298/.361/.483 Career: .281/.341/.451 McClung walks a lot of guys but still doesn't get shelled like Suppan.
  14. I don't see how you can make that assumption. McClung went over 100 pitches once last year, in the seventh inning. I expect Suppan's leash to last at least to the All-Star break. Macha seems to put a lot of stock in that veteran mentality (evidenced by his reasoning for starting Suppan in the opener), and I'm sure he'll give Suppan a long leash as a result. And really, I don't think he was a bad as the numbers would suggest yesterday.
  15. So does this make tomorrow's game a must win? The patience at the plate was encouraging, but the pitching was bad, not surprisingly. Hopefully Gallardo is on his game tomorrow.
  16. Corey finally shows a little patience at the plate and good things happen.
  17. Way to help yourself Soup. Lincecum not looking too great today.
  18. I actually think the best scenario for the Brewers would be to play an inning or two and then have a delay because I doubt they'd have Lincecum come back out after a delay.
  19. Player of the Year: Prince Fielder A happy Prince is a hitting Prince. Fielder gets his contract, sheds some pounds, and goes off this year. Pitcher of the Year: Yovani Gallardo Gallardo establishes himself as one of the premier pitchers in the league. Rosenthal comes within a few votes of actually getting one right. Rookie of the Year: Brad Nelson I get the sick feeling that the intercostal injury will linger this season and eventually result in trip to the DL for Braun. Nelson fills in and shines. Jack Voigt Memorial Award - Unsung Hero: Seth McClung McClung finishes the year with a handful of saves along with a handful of quality starts. Minor League Impact Player: Jake Odorizzi Jake's stay in Wisconsin is short as he mows down hitters in the Midwest League. He continues to impress in Florida. Record: 82 - 80 A plethora of short outings from our starters wears the pen out and holds the team back as the Cubs and Reds steam past us in the standings. A significant portion of the fan-base turns on Macha by the All-Star break.
  20. Can't the guys at Fire Joe Morgan come back for this doozie? The Astros have Mike Hampton as there #2 starter. The Mike Hampton that makes Ben Sheets and Rich Harden look like Cal Ripken Jr. Get real, Richard.
  21. I want to see McGehee make the club and do well just to stick it to the Cubs more than anything. I could see the reasoning behind giving Lamb the spot out of Spring Training, though. Lamb's career numbers suggest that he's nowhere near this bad, and McGehee's numbers suggest that he's nowhere near this good. I doubt that Lamb simply fell of a cliff this past year and that the lights just went on for McGehee this spring. I think it's more likely the case that in this small sample the better player is struggling while the lesser player is red hot.
  22. Bit of a side note, but I had a Math Professor that had no problem with "World" but with "Series." He felt it should be the World Sequence instead.
  23. You could see if Audacity has what you need. It's free.
  24. Yeah, I've seen this on my TV too, both digital cable and OTA digital. I had the same issues with the Olympics this summer.
