  1. I don't even think Bigredrobbo can defend that 8th inning by Counsell.
  2. Team building games of ultimate frisbee on Monday and Thursday this week has them exhausted.
  3. I take back what I said about Counsell being fine. He's a complete egghead.
  4. Because Counsell saves Jeffress and Hader for perfect situations that never come, and as a result we end up losing games 8-7 like we did with the Braves last week with our best pitchers still available. It's a total waste when you have to put your best relievers in just to get him some work again. It happened with Jeffress last week, it's likely going to happen with Josh.
  5. Due to get shut out again, hasn't happened since June, we got all our shutouts out of the way in April and May, which incredibly is when we were good.
  6. Another chance extinguished faster than you can type GIDP.
  7. Would you believe Schoop has a hit in 8 straight starts?
  8. Counsell is whatever. He's fine. I don't agree with all his decisions, but it's that way no matter who the manager is. My only real complaint with him is how long he stuck with Knebel this year and was still married to the idea of a conventional closer, but for the most part I think he is able to think outside the box. Counsell has to wear at least part of the crappy hitting this year. Games like this, we have no chance. We have these games 3 days a week. It's incredibly frustrating. I wish Darnell Coles would wear it since he's been in charge of these crappy offenses for several years now.
  9. One thing is fairly certain, if we start giving up 2-3 runs a game only, we're going to stop scoring runs again.
  10. Counsell is whatever. He's fine. I don't agree with all his decisions, but it's that way no matter who the manager is. 11. Really tight strike zone today. Not that we've taken advantage of it.
  12. Freddy Peralta is someone who could possibly benefit from an outside the box type approach like the Rays use at times with starting a reliever. Don't ask me why. But I think it could work for him. He takes awhile to settle in and might benefit from starting in the 2nd where at least if he gets in trouble he'll only have to get through the bottom of the order to get out of it. That said I'd still prefer to see him out of the rotation entirely for Woodruff or Burnes.
  13. Does anyone still really believe, gun to your head, that this team is making the playoffs this year?
  14. As another example, go look at Jimmy Nelson's first year or two at the big league level. Yep. And I misspoke. Woodruff is 25, not 26. For some examples... Jacob DeGrom never even pitched in an MLB game until just before his 26th birthday. Corey Kluber had a career ERA over 5 when he was 26. There are many other examples, but yeah, you don't write a guy off as 'he sucks' at 25 after 73 innings.
  15. I'd be open to it, but only if the return for Shaw was quite significant.
  16. Way too small of a sample... He has never been given a real shot at the rotation. I'd rather throw him out there and see what we have then to say he sucks. Has more career innings than Peralta and a higher ERA, not to mention he’s 4 years older than Peralta This is just a terrible take. There are countless pitchers who don't come into their own by age 25. You should see what Jake Arrieta's career ERA was at age 27 after several hundred innings.
  17. Well, that was certainly nothing else if not predictable.
  18. This team should be in the NBA. They're as solid as they come as long as you're ending the season after 82 games.
  19. People had him on Hiura's prospect level headlining a trade for DeGrom. It was painful.
  20. They didn't even have to have a 5th starter lately with the off days. Just a terrible decision to ride this out yet again in a crucial game.
  21. Freddy "only" threw 24 pitches in the 1st today. So there's that.
  22. It’s because Woodruff sucks Dude has less than 75 not great, but not terrible innings at the MLB level, after putting up great numbers in the minors and being a top 100 prospect. Good stuff. I really don't think anyone knows if he sucks or not.
  23. It feels like Thames is striking out swinging every AB.
  24. Sometimes they're wrong. His performance this month would suggest this may be one of those times.
