  1. It's clear what the Brewers were thinking with Schoop. He was really good in 2017. He was hurt for awhile to start 2018, then really heated up again. They were clearly thinking that the injury affected his play early season and he would revert to 2017 form. Obviously, has not happened yet. Hopefully it does. By the way, he hasn't been THAT bad, he's 6 for his last 28, which isn't good, but isn't bad to the point where you'd think we'd have to rehash about how awful he is after every single AB on a small sample size. I just about guarantee you that every hitter on this team has had a stretch this year worse than 6 for 28. He's not really the problem right now, the problem is that we're giving up 7 flipping runs a game in August on average and you won't win many games with any lineup when you need 8 to win.
  2. Hard to imagine a worse season for Jimmy to miss. Having Jimmy this year in a wide open NL would have been enormous.
  3. Id say getting Kyle Hendricks and Carl Edwards for Ryan Dempster, Anthony Rizzo for Andrew Cashner, and Jake Arrieta and Pedro Strop for Scott Feldman were ok trades...... Oh and Addison Russell for Jeff Samardzija. Which is why I said he did a much better job rebuilding them. Those were all rebuilding sell moves.
  4. Chacin did not do bad as he did not participate in the game today. Guerra however was pretty bad. Probably not as bad as his line indicates, but still pretty bad. Given the kind of urgency that even some Brewers said they needed to approach Game 2 with, I'm surprised you would be anticipating positive comments about moral victories after what is essentially a double damage loss as far as the division race goes.
  5. What has Theo honestly done since he took over for the Cubs? The only really big one I can really think of to give him credit for is Bryant. Baez was from the previous regime. Throwing a bunch of money at the pen has worked for the most part, but he has managed to build about the least efficient rotation in baseball when you consider bang for buck. Darvish is early but looks terrible so far, Quintana looks like an overpay, and it was ridiculous what he gave up for Chapman. He honestly did a better job rebuilding them and acquiring young talent than he has turning them into a contender. If he had waited on his young talent, they'd probably be a 110 win team and head and shoulders the best in the NL.
  6. It's awesome that you can see the future and knew it would be a waste to have Jeffress fresh and ready to go today. Cesspool It's awesome that the majority of your posts are just condescending remarks to other posters. Are you about to go on another one of your raging tirades again?
  7. I wish the Cubs pen had a Knebel where we could pray we catch him on an off day and then start the inning with the bases loaded and the tying run up.
  8. I would have rather seen Jeffress pitch in the game we managed to lose 8-7 late the other day rather than be forced to use him in a blowout just to get him some work, but that's just me.
  9. For all our defensive innovations maybe we should be rolling with 2 catchers for all the balls we throw right into the dirt.
  10. We've had a billion "close but who knows" calls like this and we never win a one. So of course the Cubs will win.
  11. Counsell showed absolutely no sense today that today was any different than any other game. On the plus side, maybe we can stop worrying so much about what the Cubs are doing everyday -- they are highly likely to win the division by at least 5 games. We should be far more worried about the Cardinals right on our heels for a wild card.
  12. He made solid contact that inning and nearly put us ahead with a grand slam. Shaw's dud AB was the one that really cost us, can't pop up a 2-0 pitch with the bases loaded and 1 out. Had Schoop's AB come first it would have at least scored a run.
  13. That's what we do. Have a great chance to get back in it, and instead of the crooked inning, leave the bases loaded. That was our chance.
  14. Schoop has a chance to quiet his critics for several days right here.
  15. Thanks for nothing, Travis. On a free 2-0 count that should have been 0-2, nonetheless.
  16. When i saw that one drop I thought, "someone is going to get forced out somewhere." Good baserunning.
  17. If there's any chance of a comeback here, you have to find a way to turn this into a 3+ run inning.
  18. No, he came on on the double switch for Thames.
  19. If Counsell pulled a pitcher every time someone on this board wanted him too we would have to sign a new pitcher every day just to get enough innings. Situations change based on circumstances. While it's too early to call any game a must win, if you have any visions of winning the division, this was one that you really had to go for and try to go into the last part of August down 1 game. Not every game can be played as a 'live to fight another day' strategy, particularly when you had 2 games sandwiched by off days and a great chance to utilize the stronger part of your pitching staff, while at the same time taking the shot at pulling into the lead in the 4th.
  20. It's like Counsell has no ability to adjust for circumstances (possible rain shortened day, rested pen, day off 2 days ago, day off tomorrow, pitcher struggling, chance to take lead in 4th)
  21. https://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/mp4/2018/08/15/2388034183/1534362565244/asset_2500K.mp4 Safe. Again, there are angles that clearly show him out. None of those do.
