  1. Hard to believe that neither of Braun or Fielder ever did that.
  2. Not that big, but I guess a comp from us would be something like Stokes+Nick Ramirez. Not sure I'd be all that thrilled about that for a reliever rental.
  3. A good reminder that having a TOR starter isn't a guarantee of success.
  4. Regardless of how this turns out, it remains a mystery to me as to why our 3rd or 4th best reliever has his own dedicated inning while the rest of the pen is situationally based.
  5. Well if there was any worry about how Hader would look immediately following the controversy, it sure didn't seem to affect him tonight.
  6. Thought it was pretty clear. Not have fans give him a standing ovation because he said a bunch of racist and homophobic crap. Because that's exactly what they were clapping for. So "I'll do what I want" applies to you and how you feel they should handle the situation, but does not in fact apply to the fans in attendance.
  7. Search “Hader” on Twitter ... the articles are coming I’m sure it’s some quality journalism. I’ll pass. Seconded.
  8. Accusing those who support him of "showing enthusiast approval" of his actions is toeing a pretty fine line. He hadn't performed yet, so what would you call it? Goodness gracious. What are you implying here, that the crowd was saying, "Hey, we totally approve of what you tweeted" by cheering? That's garbage, and you know it. You know what they were doing and what the intent was behind it (support for a player on your team). You know what would have been acting like it never happened? Doing nothing. So the crowd did not in fact act like nothing happened. They acknowledged it, and showed support (for the player, not the action), and I would imagine (most) will be moving on.
  9. Showing support for a guy going through a rough time. Classy fan move. The only one's not ready to move on are Twitter warriors. He apologized to the fans and his team, and had one of the most exciting nights of his life ruined by this. Not real sure what other punishment he needs to endure. Showing support would be not booing the guy. Standing ovation is enthusiastic approval. In situations like these you show support and solidarity for your player. It doesn't mean that nothing happened. It shows forgiveness and willingness to accept his apology and mistake and move past it. It's not that complicated.
  10. Yeah, terrible to show support for your player. Should have booed the piss out of him, that would have been super helpful for his well-being and confidence.
  11. Broxton has been about as valuable for us in his short time as a .186 hitter can be. I suspect he's going to outlast Orf and Phillips on the roster as more guys come off the DL.
  12. His pitch count is also equal to where Anderson was through 3 innings. Exactly. Also most managers don't have a Clayton Kershaw in their rotation. If we had one I doubt he would be going 4-5 innings.
  13. It's hard to understand why Burnes isn't in the rotation at this point. He's not on a real low inning limit this year, and it's not like he's buried behind 5 better options.
  14. That was not an easy play, but when we acquired Saladino all I heard was about how slick his glove is. The difference between him and Arcia is pretty vast.
  15. I'm glad that Orf got a chance to live his dream. That's about as far as that goes.
  16. I feel the frustration but in all fairness, lots of teams blow opportunities against this guy. Yeah I understand, just saying, if we are going to snap the streak today, the opportunities probably aren't going to be numerous.
  17. Really needed Jesus to get us at least 1 there. Can't blow opportunities with this guy on the mound.
  18. Jeffress is at least controlled through 2020 anyway. At this point I'd hate to trade him simply from a human standpoint.
  19. I also am not advocating selling, unless it's sensible moves from positions of depth. Just thinking rentals are not looking very attractive this year at this point and if we buy we should stick to controlled assets at least through 2019.
  20. They're really not, though. Neither the rotation nor lineup is very good at all. I can understand getting MLB talent because we're not that far away but the more I see I just don't think they're there yet. I think they're probably in a much better position for 2019.
  21. I really don't know if this team is good enough to consider themselves "buyers." And it's not just based on the last week. This is a lousy lineup with a bad rotation than Johnson manages to get the most out of. The only good part about this team is the pen which has shown plenty of cracks and even at their best, a good pen alone isn't enough. I know our record is still good but looking objectively at the roster and comparing it to the team that we're up against it feels like we played over our heads for a couple months.
  22. This is why 1st place in June is completely meaningless.
