  1. Pérez has to have the worst plate eye in MLB. His plate patience is just atrocious. Stranding a leadoff double, good way to start today.
  2. Maybe this thread can come full circle and we can DFA Scahill to activate Woodruff again .
  3. I've been a big Broxton fan but I've been really disappointed by what I've seen this year. I still think some people are a little too hard on him -- his overall OPS is pretty much fine for a CF, and he's probably a 20 HR/20SB player. He's got tools. But he hasn't built on that 2nd half last year the way I hoped he would, and he just hasn't been able to do anything to fix his big issue, the strikeouts . He's got value. But given the guys he's blocking, he's probably best served as off-season trade bait. At this point I'd say Shaw, Santana and Arcia are our only true core guys. Braun is a part time player who will be lucky to crack 1.5 WAR this year. Sorry, to me, he doesn't qualify.
  4. I know this isn't what you meant, but I decided to look up Peralta's lefty/righty splits this year just out of curiosity after you mentioned Hader. Surprisingly, Peralta is killing lefites this year. His changeup must've improved a lot from the 50 grade it got from MLB.com preseason. vs RHB .246/.350/.411 vs LHB .109/.237/.176 He's definitely benefiting from a really low BAbip against lefties, but wow a .414 OPS against. Also, Peralta's BB/9 is 3.3 at AA, just below his career mark of 3.4, so not sure why he was walking more in Carolina (5.0) but he seems to have settled down from that. He had a 4.9 BB/9 at A+ last year and a 3.6 at A, so that A+ level just seems like it was hard on him. He's also increased his already high K rate this year from his career level, so he seems like he has made some significant improvements to his game this year. Wouldn't surprise me if he could crack the top 10 by the end of the year if he keeps it up at AA. Freddy Peralta is really being overlooked this year, probably because of Burnes. Sub 3 ERA over High A and AA and 13K/9. Very impressive.
  5. Hope they stop? Honestly, nothing much, we have no control over what they do aside from their games against us. And on that note, for those still hoping for the division, there is hope -- 10 games left against the Cubs represents a massive possible 20 game swing in the standings, so regardless of the slumps and streaks, if we were to somehow have the Cubs' number the rest of the way, that alone might be enough. If we were to go 8-2 against them, for instance, that alone would propel the lead back to 7.5 with about 2 months of other games aside. Is it likely? Nope, not at all but you really never can tell when one team is going to own another over a short period of time. With the more likely scenario that our ceiling is probably 5 or 6 wins against them, it's possible for the Rockies to play .500 ball or worse the rest of the way which would give us a shot to get in that way.
  6. Exactly. Worry about ourselves and our own development, not about what the teams around us our doing. We're still rebuilding. That doesn't mean we can't and won't finish with a better than average team this year, but if we're going to make moves, make them for ourselves. If we're making reactionary moves based on the moves or anticipated moves of a team that 99.9% of people expected to win this division, we've already failed at the rebuild.
  7. So I'm guessing you were one of those last year that wasn't going to give up Braun for Bellinger unless you got Verdugo back too? Your last point about reading away prospects for proven major league talent every single time is so generalized and oversimplified and makes me very glad you are not in charge of making decisions for this franchise.
  8. Yep. We are not a good enough team to be able to afford to lose the 1 run and extra inning games, but that's exactly what we're doing. We need the close ones, we're not getting them.
  9. Pretty much, but I'd like to at least see them stay within striking distance until early September to keep things interesting. I fully expect the Cubs to win this division by at least 5 games at this point. But it would be nice to at least have a pennant race.
  10. No one said that we did. That doesn't mean they haven't sucked.
  11. Why, can he hit? If we continue to score 2-3 runs per game it doesn't really matter who is in the bullpen .
  12. If you want to be a jabroni...dont come back. If you want to have some decent conversations stick around. Any knowledgeable brewer fan knows the Cubs are a better team. Some really were starting to believe that the Cubs really were a slightly less than . 500 team with a terrible rotation and a joke of a lineup outside of Rizzo and Bryant.
  13. Cubs have shaved 4 games off our lead in 4 days, won 6 in a row, and finally playing to preseason expectations. We've blown 4 leads in 6 days and haven't scored over 3 runs in 5 straight games. But let's not panic!
  14. Walked off by some AAAA player named Max Moroff. Cool.
  15. I do think that last replay clearly showed it hit his shin. Ball definitely changed direction. Yeah I'm not sure if it did or not, but still, make a call .
  16. The umpiring crew in this series has been just a total joke. This crew is Exhibit A for those who say "Umpires do a great job."
  17. "BALK!!" scream thousands of fans who don't know what a balk is.
  18. Even if we are not, then that is it? It's a marathon season. We have deep talent, scrappers, and a smart GM who wants to send in reinforcements...... The division and two wild cards are in play. Fangraphs still has us as one of the least talented teams in baseball. I can't agree with that, but it's totally possible we've just been playing well over our heads. I haven't thought we'd win the division when we were 5.5 up and still don't. But I'd much rather end up being wrong than be validated.
  19. Way to battle back, offense. You've been a real juggernaut since the break .
  20. I like how you are all about positivity but yet when it comes to Arcia, he is just the worst.
  21. That will likely snap Knebel's record, too. Don't think they'll send him back out after 30 pitches. Which would be fine if we still win, but with our track record in extras, I wouldn't count on it.
  22. Did you see the first AB of the inning? That was not a hard bit ball?
  23. That 1-0 pitch was plenty good. Knebel just getting squeezed.
