  1. Other than his pretty horrendous month of June, I don't understand the beef people are having with Thames. He must've spoiled a few with that hot start into thinking that was reality. OPS by Month: (OBP) April- 1.276 (.466) May- .791 (.375) June- .669 (.276) July- .915 (.375) I'm really surprised by that, looks like I stand corrected, it's pretty much been a horrendous June and nothing more. Just feels like he's been struggling since April. Can't really go wrong with Santana at #2 either, though. Given the way this offense is struggling I wouldn't be opposed to trying something different.
  2. 2012 was pretty amazing given that they were actually sellers at the deadline and somehow crawled back to within a game and a half out of the playoffs before finally fading .
  3. April was a long time ago, Craig . Time to move Thames down in the order.
  4. This forum is for Brewer fans, and on occasion, friendly fans of opposing teams. Why not post in the forum of the team that you're actually a fan of rather than continuing to pretend to be a Brewer fan? I'm a Brewers fan. Stop making up lies about me on all the different threads in the forum. I'm getting a bit tired of it. Calling it like I see it. Almost all of your posts involve the Cubs in some way and you seem to have plenty of knowledge on them and have demonstrated none on the Brewers. How's this for a test, because any real Brewer fan that posts here would know the answer. One specific Brewer trade in the last year is generally seen as a big win for the Brewers and was a 4 for 1 deal. Who was this trade with and what players were involved? How is the player or players we traded away doing this year? If I'm wrong, my apologies, but I won't apologize for calling you out on your posts. You have been here 5 days and have done nothing but either complain or remind us of how great the Cubs are.
  5. https://www.brewcrewball.com/2017/7/22/16014934/david-stearns-mark-attanasio-brewers-trade-deadline This article seems to lend some truth to the OP. Not surprisingly, it seems Mark A. is leaning on the aggressive side while Stearns prefers to stay the course .

  7. Cardinals bullpen blew it against the Cubs today. Finally time to kiss 1st place goodbye if we can't snap out if it tonight.
  8. Unfortunately he'll do no such thing since doing so would forfeit the remainder of his contract. I'm afraid we are stuck with a part time Braun for the duration of his contract, a guy who will hit well enough when available but probably can only be counted on for 80 games or so a season . It is what it is and we have to make the best of it now but it's the giant red flag that caused many of us to want to ship him out to L.A. last August even if the return wasn't overwhelming. Nothing we can do with him now but be extremely cautious every year and try to make sure he's healthy and rested for any potential pennant races or playoff series. 80 is probably light. There's not need for him to play 162 games but it's asinine to not push him to the 120 mark each year. He's babied. It's gotten out of hand. Well he's played in 46 out of 99 this year so he's on pace for 75 in 2017. And that's including games with a lone PH appearance and the ones where he was removed early . Can't imagine the problem is going to get much better with age.
  9. I can't fathom that Bellinger was ever on the table for Braun . I'll mourn for days if it ever comes out that he was. I love Stearns. Even if he had that chance for Bellinger and blew it, he's still the man. But boy oh boy would that ever be a hard earned lesson for a young GM, because Bellinger is an elite young player. Its why I can't understand when people, even in a pennant race, say "I'll take the proven commodity over the unknown prospect every time!" Of course a proven commodity is more of a sure thing. But if it were that simple, prospects would have no value because everyone would be preferring the proven commodities. Some prospects flame out. It happens. Maybe Brinson never amounts to anything. Its possible . But if your GM has the attitude of 'proven commodity over prospect every time', your team will never find the Cody Bellingers of the world and the 6+ years of control that come with it. Because he'll always be trading them away for the next available 'proven commodity.'

  11. I hope he can but I would be shocked. It was just a ridiculous, unrealistic first half. I'm hoping it will be one of those unexplainable phenomenons where we get a guy like Sogard back, he leaves off where he was and the entire offense starts clicking again. I realize this is a long shot, I'm just looking for something right now, because the situation is getting pretty critical.
  12. What year are you in? 2011? Reminds me of the Braun + 30M for Bellinger+DeLeon type proposals from last year only in reverse.
  13. In a vacuum I don't really have a problem with getting Kinsler if it's quite cheap, as he's still effective enough and should be through 2018 which would nicely bridge the gap to Dubon/Diaz/Hiura. I wouldn't be interested in giving him the extension that he said back in November that he would require to waive his NTC, however. However this kind of move would essentially be giving up on Villar, which given his age and controllable years left, combined with how good he was last year, makes me pretty lukewarm on the idea. Moving Villar to a utility infielder type role doesn't make much sense either as he's a bad defender at SS and 3B and Arcia and Shaw are both everyday players .
  14. Its too bad about Broxton as for as much as his Achilles heel is inconsistency, he was very consistently good during the last couple months of 2016 and I was really hoping he could build on that . But that K rate is just killing him. And the thing about it is that his plate discipline really isn't all that bad. He doesn't swing at a ton of bad pitches . He just misses so many hittable pitches you'd think he has a hole in his bat. Hopefully it's something correctable for the next time he's up. Guy reminds me of Weeks so much in the sense that you look at his tools and think 'He could be really good if he could just put it all together.' Unfortunately he hasn't so far other than the last couple months of 2016.
  15. Skipped over it before..... the video from the MLB article has Justice saying that he'd be surprised if the Brewers didn't do something BIG. He says Attanasio is THE most aggressive owner, will do whatever DS wants to do, including trade prospects and add salary. Not news there, but what a difference from beginning of season when he wasn't concerned about wins and losses. I don't believe Attanasio is going to force Stearns' hand on anything and just because he'll listen to DS certainly doesn't mean that Stearns has any desire to acquire a 34 year old starter having a career worst year and a pen arm with one year of control . If that's the direction we want to take we have really learned nothing from the past.
  16. Not buying that they are looking to add big...if they were, they'd have done something by now..the longer it goes, the higher the prices go up and the less likely they do something. I wish they would add big, but it doesn't appear that it's going to happen sadly enough. I'd love to see a haul of verlander, Wilson AND Gray..and I think it can be done without giving up the farm, just by taking on Verlander's contract. Verlander has stated in the past he is 'too old to be part of a rebuilding process.' He just bought a house in California, with his fiancee Kate Upton. There is basically zero chance that Verlander waives his NTC and gives up his 10/5 rights to come to Milwaukee.
  17. I know this is in blue, and falling that hard is unlikely, but I could pretty easily see us finishing 4th in the division. I'm not saying it will happen, but it wouldn't take much at this point. Which would be in line with most preseason projections. I think finishing 4th is about as equally likely as finishing 1st at this point, I'll put it that way.
  18. George Webb needs to lower their standards for this offense . Maybe 5 burgers for 5 hits.
  19. Umm...no. They have the technology for the strikes to actually be called strikes and vice versa. If it's called the correct way within the rules I'm certainly not going to complain about thst call whether it goes against us or not. No one complains that the call was bad when a Brewer hits a foul down the line that misses the foul line by a half inch. I'm not saying it won't be more accurate, but I guarantee something on a corner will be called one way or another and the will be posts the machines are screwing it up. I'm in favor of them but it won't eliminate complaining. Well, it won't be from me. I for one would be glad to see pitches that are almost always incorrectly called balls, get called for strikes. Such as when a catcher gets crossed up, pitch goes across the zone but pitcher misses his spot and it fools the umpire . Another are 12-6 curves that end up at the ankles but actually cross in the zone, these are almost all incorrectly called balls. I'd also like to see pitchers stop getting rewarded for setting up a target 2 inches off the plate and being rewarded for it because they hit the spot.
  20. I guess it had to happen sometime.
  21. If there's a silver lining in this big skid, it's that hopefully it will be just in time to keep us from doing something stupidly aggressive at the trade deadline .
  22. Sticking with Torres was stupid. As for Scahill replacing him, who cares? At 5-1 the game is already over anyway. But yeah, none of Torres, Scahill, or Peralta for that matter belong on an MLB roster.

  24. And Torres has single handedly blown this game wide open. We can't even beat the Phillies.
