A sweep would be sweet. RIP to the Cubs in the division, they’re just hoping to hold onto a WC. Unfortunately, the Dodgers continue to win and are within 1.5 games. With really very little competition left on their schedule, it may be a daunting task to hold onto the 1 seed. The good news is, the far more important thing is holding onto a 2 to secure the bye, and while it’s not over, that lead is at a much more comfortable 4.5 games. Others may disagree, but I see relatively little difference between the 1 and 2 seed this year. The 1 will likely host a Phils/Cubs winner, I’m not sure that’s preferable to hosting one of Braves/D’Backs/Padres. Something about the 2-3-2 NLCS format makes me not hate being on the road. You’d go into games 1/2 in LA just trying to steal 1 and if you can do that, you flip homefield and get 3 games back here. If you can push it to games 6/7 back in LA it’s anybody’s series at that point anyway. Maybe I am just rationalizing. But HFA did us no good in the NLCS last year. -
But what I’m saying with Chourio, it was not just an isolated HR, it was one of those big moment clutch HRs that you look for out of your leaders. He’s only 22 and he’s going to be one of our biggest leaders for a long time. For being honestly, one of our most critiqued players throughout the course of the season, he’s now up to a 128 OPS+ and has put together another 4 WAR season. Believe what you will but I believe he will be competing for MVP awards one day.

I don’t disagree, Yelich deserves credit. I would put DL Hall in the same category. None of it ends up mattering unless Hall comes in and strikes out PCA with 2nd and 3rd and 1 out in the 9th to keep the deficit at 2, and then puts up a 0 in the 10th.

We knew Megill was going to have some stinkers and he just had 2 and we won both of them. So hopefully he’s getting them out of the way before October.

It is difficult to envision the Brewers going very far in the postseason if they are not getting good starting pitching. The offense is not going to get to face the Chicago Cubs bullpen every series.

1 run isn’t the end of the world but that’s a high stress, high pitch 1st inning.
