  1. Steve Kiefer was on that magical 1982 Madison Muskies team. Despite hitting around .230 in A-ball, the Oakland brass proclaimed they were high on him. That left us scratching our heads. IIRC, during spring training ('89?) he was in a bar and had his neck slashed by some drunk. Never made it back after that. He hit two grand salamis during his short time in Milwaukee. When his brother Mark was pitching for the Brewers, I was going to try to ask him how Steve was doing, but never met up with him.
  2. The Brewers' hot streak began right at 3TO's call up. Russ, good luck in Seattle and thanks for saving our season!
  3. Michigan and Michigan State were in the WCHA at one time. I don't remember the reason they left. Travel costs?
  4. My wife continuously enters those low chance-high reward raffles and never wins, yet keeps trying. Today she received a phone call. She won two Trans Siberian Orchestra tickets, a show we were planning to attend as it was.
  5. My "woot, woot" should have been in blue. Those numbers are typical for me.
  6. Woo! Woo! I'm rockin' http://www.speedtest.net/result/348239628.png
  7. Today was my turn. Two towers, two keyboards, Win95 OS disk, handfulls of 5.25" floppies from 20+ years ago, etc, etc. Needed a hammer to take care of another hard drive, but the guy there didn't have one. He said not to worry anyhow. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif Tomorrow, the TVs and toasters.
  8. I was getting around to it. Enjoying my life of leisure at the moment. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif As it turns out, my co-workers presented me with an Outback gift card as a parting gift. So we went there in their honor. However, I like bullox's idea. PQ will be the next place we head to the next big occassion. Ponderosa by Southridge is still in business. Eric's was discussed. I've been there a couple of times and had duck. Nice place but a little too fancy for me this time.
  9. There's an 18 x 18 x 18 sealed box that's been sitting in our basement for a couple years now and I can't remember how it got there. This morning my curiousity got to me, so I cut open the box to find a Wolfgang Puck convection oven my wife ordered from Home Shopping Network. The packing slip listed an order date of 4/17/05.
  10. Monday is my last day of a long tenured job. As I complete one phase of my life and get ready to embark on the next I would like to head out tomorrow night and celebrate the occassion. We're casual people, so Ponderosa was good enough (don't laugh). Now that they're in Chapter 7, time to find another place. We went out to Outback after we closed on our condo, they were OK. Please don't recommend Mo's or Bartalotta's becuase I don't want to dress up and am not eager to take out a second mortgage. Any suggestions? Thanks.
  11. Let us not forget the underdog Keith Coste. http://my.execpc.com/~silkey/.photos/Indy/Lineups.jpg
  12. I gave notice this morning, after 13 years at this job. - New place offered a nice 18% raise. - Was able to keep my three weeks vacation. - No more Michael Scott for a boss.
  13. Doesn't Waukesha County have a recycling program? My stuff is accumulating as well.
  14. The '81 Brewers nearly did it as well, against the Yankees - and doing it the hard way: lose first two at home then three on the road.
  15. NL: 1. Brewers - home town team 2. Dodgers - I love LA 3. Phillies - >Cubs 4. Cubs - AL: 1. Red Sox - The people of Boston treated me like royalty when I was out there 2. Angels - I love LA 3. Rays - enjoy seeing new blood, but why get excited when the people of Tampa aren't exited? 4. White Sox - I do not love Chicago. However, Sox > Cubs
  16. As I mentioned in another thread: George Petak.
  17. The station is around the corner from where I work. But when I called Alina at 1:30, I got her voice mail. But I had a staff meeting and then headed off to the pep rally. I figured after that ten people from this site would have beaten me to it. They had on some 71 year old guy who remembers the Brewers and the Braves. Good for him!
  18. Nothing personal, just business. I appreciate how Ned took a team no one respected and made them into competitors. I remember reading fans sites of playoff teams like the Cubs and Giants and their posters frusterated that they couldn't put down the sub-.500 Brewers, at least with ease. The Brewers overachieved in Ned's first three years, but hit a plateau as the talent reached playoff caliber. But like a guy running a mom-and-pop store (Seligs) and as the business grows, he gets in over his head and a change is needed. Yost is a manager that will make a team competitve, but won't win any pennants. Finally, he was in one World Series as a player and many others as a coach. It's not like he's missing his first playoff run.
  19. A Sandy Maxx sighting in the house. Wasn't sure if it was her at first since she wasn't all made up, but then noticed she was wearing her in-game-host jersey. Also found it odd to see WPR's Kathleen Dunn there as well.
  20. Believe me, I have not forgotten George. He should throw out the first pitch Saturday. Nor have I forgotten the person who beat him in the recall election. Nor have I forgotten the columnist who ridiculed the Miller Park proposal and Bud Selig. He's getting an e-mail today.
  21. I got your backside, Russ. I also had figured 2-3 additional wins, but you beat me to the post. No need to apologize!
  22. I'll be there in my Brewerfan softball jersey, weather permitting.
  23. The usual? Subdued knowing they had the top seed wrapped up? Congratulatory? They didn't seem as vocal. Were there as many of them? Those of us watching at home want to know.
  24. My name is Jimbo, and I'm here to say I kept my word and watched all eight remainng games. I did not quit on this team. And to the guy who mocked my first post, he missed an exciting final week.
  25. Driving home after the game last night listening to WTMJ, everyine keeps bringing up the Mets this and Mets that. Same thing at the game as well. Um, is anyone aware the Brewers moved to within one game of the Phillies with the win? Wouldn't it be weird if the Mets won the East, Brewers the WC and the Phillies out?
