  1. The BBC version of reality-based weight loss TV shows don't beat around the bush and are defiantely non-PC.
  2. Since you asked - 1 in 245,074. (624470/309143691)*(624469/309143690) http://ww2.howmanyofme.com/search/
  3. I was in Louisville last week and had one made up. Very cool.
  4. The baserunner went from second to third on the throw. Have to determine a cause-and-effect.I'm still at a loss over this scoring decision. So Gomez gets an error for trying to throw the runner out at home? It was a really good throw, and would have probably gotten the out had Zaun held on. Is that the play he got it on? The throw was one-hopped which made it tough to handle, allowing the other runner(s) to advance. Something happened to allow the guy to get to third, it has to be accounted for.
  5. My first game at MP in almost a year. Just good to be back in the park, despite the stinker. Cubs fans (around me) were unusually docile.
  6. The baserunner went from second to third on the throw. Have to determine a cause-and-effect.
  7. We were in Nashville last week visiting a friend and we decided to check the Sounds' home opener. They lost 7-4 to the Iowa Cubs in eleven innings. A beautiful night, temps in the mid-70s. A few people decked out in Milwaukee/Brewer garb, even more in Cubs gear. At least the Cubs fans here weren't obnoxious. Only drawbacks - game program lacked rosters and scorecard. Took 25 minutes to secure mid-game concessions. 8. I was on the same thought lines as jjkoestler - "take the points off the board" and try for a bigger score. I was conference call in the process of politely declining the position, but then they made the sales pitch - mentioning incentives and benefits that would bring the compensation somewhat close to what I had before. Then I was FV's corner. "A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush." I start the 20th, after a short trip to Nashville and hopefully catching a Sounds game.
  9. Appearantly I am the top choice at a company I interviewed with last month. It turns out the pay would be $15K less than my last job and the location is three hours away. I would get a second place to crash and do the weekly commute thing. I'd only work this gig until the economy improves. Also at this place, three senior manages have been replaced in the last six weeks (~200 employees). I have 54 weeks UE remaining. So, do I politely turn them down and take my chances at finding something local? I'm an engineer going on 20 years, BTW.
  10. UWGB women were ranked in the Top 25 most of the season. I was stunned they were only a 12.
  11. Don't even get me started on this subject.
  12. Is it me, or are all eight courts the same black-and-blue design? Was it like that last year? The Bradley Center looked *very* empty today. Anyone there today, and give an attendance estimate?
  13. My eyesight had improved from age 8 to about 40. Now, I'm going the wrong way.
  14. Yeah, seriously. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif A thread at Badger Nation actually discusses the *lack* of women's basketball on BTN. Keep in mind this was the conference tournament this past weekend. Being a signature event you know BTN will broadcast it. A good showing by the Badgers.
  15. In 2000 I did a road trip through that part of the country. After driving for hours and seeing open space, going by Boise was sort of breath of fresh air. Seemed pretty modern with malls, office parks, airport. Looked liveable. If I had to relocate anywhere in those parts, Boise would be it.
  16. What was the reaction from the basketball crowd?
  17. I wouldn't classify figure skating as X-Games. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. Final thoughts to wrap things up: Anyone who poo-poos women's hockey because checking isn't allowed should have watched the USA v CAN game. No body checking doesn't mean no body contact. Kind of an odd way for NBC to exit the Closing Ceremony. Just fade out and jump into a new program they're hyping, just to come back an hour later and show the rest tape delayed. I'm just now getting it that IOC is trying to re-invent the Olympics to draw in younger people. Much prime time coverage of X-Games type stuff that little history and no one over 30 has played. As a result, I perceive alpine skiing and speed skating had coverage cut back although bobsled appears the same. I guess more people now prefer to see people doing flips, turns and NASCAR like stuff as opposed to people racing against the clock.
  19. The athlete was probably in oxygen debt, getting fatigued and all that. People don't always think clearly in those situations. Then he has a trusted coach instructing him to go inside. As a viewer watching it live, I could see him skip over the orange pylon. Dan Jansen also noticed it, but never realized he was in the wrong lane the rest of the race. That's his job as an analyst! Dropped the ball on that one.
  20. I haven't seen as much speed skating as I would have liked, but NBC actually had televised live in its afternoon broadcast. It was interesting to watch it develop. That guy threw his glasses and screamed at his coach while Dan Jansen and the other commentator were going "doesn't look very happy for someone who just won gold." If you want women in skimpy outfits, google - video Gillian Cooke
  21. I'm in the process of digitizing all of my old VHS tapes and yesterday was the day I coverted the Indiana, Purdue and Michigan State games from 2000. Nice memories!
  22. I see the American ski coach is the same. You can hear him in the start house. If they would have put that hockey game on NBC on prime time, it would have been a ratings flop. People want to see figure skating, and they want to see the other sports. Remember that figure skating is the second most watched televised sport. I believe NHL playoff games are lucky to get 2.0 ratings. I wanted to catch the hockey game, but other things came up and I only saw the final seven minutes.
  23. For those watching the match, Denmark called timeout in the extra end and discussing strategy (in English BTW) they pretty much admitted they will only win if the US screws up. So set up a situation so that the US can screw up. Now I find out Schuster won bronze in Turino. Go Figure.
  24. Just invested 90 minutes of my life watching the USA v DEN match. The American screwed up not once but *four* times, icluding the game winner. I don't pretend to be a curling expert but man, that guy sucks. I'll watch the McCormick team once and that will be it for my curling experience.
  25. Only Matt Vasgersian could infuse the Bad News Bears into ski jumping. Alright, Matty! Men's downhill coverage was truncated last night due to being rescheduled. It's one of my faves and they only showed a half-dozen skiers. I believe it's always the first Sunday of the Olympics and gets extended coverage.
