  1. I don't see the metal detectors helping with security. All this does it make the experience worse. If someone wanted to do something, they could also do it in the parking lot. Or they could look through the glass in the outfield. Lots of ways to do damage without going through the detectors not to mention all of the loopholes there might be.
  2. Whomever gets two of the strikes gets the K. Whomever is the first to get two balls gets the BB. RR could have pulled Fiers out of the game in the middle of the bat. The next pitcher would get 8 warm up pitches on the mound. Would that pitcher really have had better control?
  3. September means more minor league pitching in the majors.
  4. Gomez was moving is torso and head back and forth to block the sight line of the runner. I don't remember any rule that makes it illegal.
  5. Yost was fired because nearly every game (even wins) had a "Has Ned ever seen a baseball game before?" move. RRR was making these mistakes in 2011. Most of his moves this year have been reasonable moves given his resources. Melvin might be in trouble for not doing anything to take advantage of the great start we had.
  6. At least one team (Brewers) claimed him. The Brewers had a higher claim priority than any American league team.
  7. They are revocable waivers in August. Claiming him doesn't mean you will get the player. It just means nobody with a lower waiver priority may take that player, risking that you might get handed that player, his salary, and be forced to make room on the roster for him. The waiving team may pull him back and not give him away.
  8. 11-15. Chc eliminates us from the playoffs. I get a refund on my post season tickets.
  9. To be fair, a month ago Cincy was still in the race and not offering Broxton.
  10. I thought the defense had the right to try to make the play on a batted ball. The 1B (and the P) were both trying to make a play on the ball. In my opinion it should have been interference on the runner and he's automatically out.
  11. They can't sell tickets to the public until they know how many are sold to SSH. They don't know how many are sold until the SSH puts up money. They need to know ASAP when someone won't/can't pay for the tickets.
  12. Without an image I don't believe you.
  13. Booo. I thought Dickey was going to pitch tonight. Sigh. One day I'll see a knuckleballer.
  14. Except in '11 when the bleachers weren't removed. They were empty for the first game of the playoffs but they were sold to lottery winners for the rest of the games.
  15. Jim - They fill in the bowl based on how long you've been a ticket holder. I've been an 81 game holder since 02 and I get bumped to the loge deck. They might need my seat for media during the WS. For the other games they sell my field level seat to non-season ticket holders.
  16. Do we need to offer Parra arbitration? Are we allowed to let him become a FA and sign him? Something in my head says if we don't offer arbitration we can't sign him until June. Braun cannot play the IF very well. We will not be moving him there. Sandoval will be like Prince and Howard. Signed to a huge deal that fans will love for a year or two. Then the drastic downturn in ability will damage the franchise. The Brewers cannot overcome these types of contracts.
  17. The type of testosterone that steroids give you is a form of testosterone that your body makes. But your body only makes a small amount of it compared to other forms of testosterone. The tests don't look for a count, they compare types of testosterone. So a guy like Manny might take steroids that increases one type and also takes a fertility drug that increases the other type. He can test all day and his ratio of testosterone types say he isn't doping.
  18. It would have been a rout if there weren't three Brewer starters. Otherwise I got it right.

  20. [sarcasm]We don't have to worry about the Cards trading for Rafael Furcal. He can't be healthy enough to stay on the field.[/sarcasm]
  21. I don't understand why we haven't attempted any SB after the first.
