And we do this when we finally have a C that I don't want to be pitch hit for. We already have 2 back up middle IF's. The problem is one of them is starting every day at SS
  2. As a STH, I know some of those autograph hounds. In 2008 our Brewers "reward" was a signed Braun bat. You had to supply the name you wanted on the bat. Braun would take the card, copy the name printed on the card, and then sign the bat. The autograph hounds were up in arms about the personalization. "What if I wanted to give the bat to my niece?" Well, you should have supplied your niece's name. They were telling me about a product that takes the ink off. They were mystified that I didn't want to use it also. They kept talking about how the value is degraded if it's personalized. So what? If all I'm doing is displaying it at my house, what do I care. They claim they only want to make sure it has value for their relatives after they die. I plan on lasting long enough that it won't matter. If I had a ball signed by, say, Clemente right now, how much less would it be valued if it also had "To Robin19" scrawled on it? Knowing these kinds of people is why I didn't bother with the promotion. [/rant]
  3. Don't think so. Two perfect throws and he was still safe. The odds of getting one run there are much greater than getting one before recording another out. he was out by three steps, but was lucky that ramos didn't handle the throw. It was a terrible decision to send him (how many guys score from first on a single?). I'm not complaining about the result, but boggs is probably out 7 or 8 times out of 10 there. It should have been a double. Lucroy said in the post game show that he was thinking of trying for 2nd, but memories of his base running blunders the past month convinced him to stay planted at first. But I agree that the decision to send him was not a good one. The crowd was very small. It was maybe 20k actually in the stadium (not their tickets sold count). I thought the crowd was into the game, we've just forgotten what a small crowd sounds like. Thinking about what I just wrote, it's awesome that a Tuesday night May game against a 2 time 100 loss team pulled in 20k. This is definitely baseball country.
  4. Invader3K wrote: The draft needs to be fixed quite a bit. They should have hard slots for signing, and do something where players can't just not sign and then re-enter a year or two later. I don't know what you can do. Some players would rather go to college (or finish college) before singing. If you have them locked up for one team, most players will start being drafted before entering college. Then a player will be property of a team during their college years. How soon before teams start giving orders to colleges about playing time, positions, etc.?
  5. Aren't there rules against a signed player from talking to other teams? I know he isn't directly talking to the Brewers, but having friends publicly communicate to the Brewers about his wishes to be on this team is very close to the line. I know we'd be upset if a friend of Fielder was tweeting how much he wishes to play for the Sawx and hopes they trade for him.
  6. I'm conflicted. I boot 2 balls hit right at me in the top of the 9th to cost my softball team a victory. Then find out I the tickets I gave away were to the Hart Show. But it does feel good to have the Brewers in 2nd and climbing.
  7. We were there for the whole thing. It was well worth it. There is nothing like sitting in the front row of the field bleachers when your hometown bopper hits one 450ft straight over your head in extras.
  8. NievesNoNO wrote: Has anyone on this board not hated one of the last 3 managers?Maybe it's because I believe most on this board (and some Magic 8 balls) would make better in-game decisions then the last 3 managers. If I made a list of players to hit in that situation, several pitchers would be ahead of Yuni. Yet we let several position players sit on the bench to throw away a scoring chance.
  9. I have a Blackberry Curve, so it's not exactly the same, but closing the application is more akin to minimizing it. If you want it to stop running on a Blackberry, you have to use the in app menu to close it. I imagine the Android would act in a similar fashion.
  10. Getting old (all of 31). When I played for BF.Net, I was playing softball two or three times a week April through October. I only play once a week now. My legs are still sore from my 4-5 Monday. Maybe I need to start running the bases like Lucroy so I don't have to spend as much time running around out there.
  11. This isn't statistical at all, but I thought it deserved to be here. Brewers record after 41 games: 2011 20-21 2010 16-25 2009 26-15 2008 20-21 2007 26-15 Twice the brewers were 26-15 after 41 games. Both times we missed the playoffs. We are 20-21, just like we were in 2008's playoff year. So it's definitely doable.
  12. Even though it hurts the Brewers, watching Zambrano and the Cubs lose it is always fun to watch. The best part is Gomes hitting a HR and stopping at 2nd, thinking it was only a double.
  13. Microsoft Security - it's free and it actually works.
  14. I left for work to find someone wrapped scotch tape on my car. Really? I've had it parked in the underground parking at my apartments and no other car was attacked, so I give it less than a 5% chance it was some kid's random attack. I think one of my new neighbors doesn't like me or something I did. How about you come talk to me like an adult?
  15. In game report: the Briggs and Stranton Power Fan of the Game was a starfleet officer (TNG, red command shirt) surrounded by about 5 other officers. My inner geek was happy they won.
  16. The problem is that all of the players are safe. None of them is going to lose a dime or a day of work from their current contracts. I don't see how firing a coach does anything but make the other coaches desperate for a win. Desperate enough to do nutty things.
  17. I got the "Mama's Boy" trophy in MLB 11 The Show today with my RTTS CFer. The trophy is awarded for hitting a home run with a pink bat on in-game Mother's Day. I should get an extra trophy for also doing it on real life Mother's Day.
  18. How does it fail? Does an error pop up?
  19. Shaun Marcum looks good can't do everything himself lets get him some runs
  20. A swing and a miss this describes the Brewers bats so much for offense
  21. Looking at that game, had the "Unwritten Book" been created yet? A young Pete Rose (his 166th career game) tried to bunt with one out in the top of the ninth of a no hitter. I guess he was more concerned about playing the game then following non-rules. And this one wasn't ugly in a walk sense, but ugly in who gets credit for it. Brad Lidge? Everyone?
  22. Gallardo's just upset that he still doesn't have a bobble head.
