  1. Yeah, my SO noticed a change in the music on Wednesday night for the middle of the first video. I was not there, but saw it Thursday. I pointed out it also changed to no longer show Hardy or Hall and that was probably why the music changed.
  2. I remember when we traded for him several people talked about this. I didn't know Lopez, but everyone else was commenting that his defense was poor. They also said he looked lackadaisical in the field. We knew this when we got him, that's why Ari didn't keep him and take the picks.
  3. Not only is Kendall the worst offensive player, I'm starting to question his pitch calling. How much of the staff's faults are also his fault? Parra has looked good since: He's gone down to work with Bosio and/or He now has Rivera catching him I find it interesting that the worst performance Parra's had since coming back is the one that Kendall caught.
  4. Maybe the book on him was to get him to swing off the plate. The first two months, he showed he'd matured to not take those pitches. Pitchers stopped throwing so many balls outside, lowering his walk total. Also, if he's going good he won't swing through strikes and will put more balls in play. From a layman scout's point of view, I would say the book is to throw junk right on the inside corner. He seems to look outside fastball and lets the inside junk go. More called strikes equals less walks. We also benefit because a junk pitch thrown a little over the plate will get walloped into play by Braun. He would also draw more walks if umps wouldn't ring him up on pitches several inches off the plate to end a game.
  5. Or they can do what DM did. He realized that the uneven playing field would prevent him from ever signing a player from Japan, so he closed the scouting in the Pacific. When one team has to cut savings like this and has no chance of signing A+ FA, there might be a difference in balance in the system.
  6. Found it! http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/4416/yoststand.th.gif
  7. I also use Norton, but I have family that are not computer literate. We split the cost. It makes it easier for me to administor and gives them piece of mind. Read the user agrement that comes with your software. Norton usually alows you to put it on 3 computers in your household.
  8. Dang, I think I deleted that pic two weeks ago since most of them weren't around anymore. I'll check my laptop when I get home to see if I still have a copy. If I have a lot of time outside of class, I'll make a new one. I stuck a fork in the Brewers before the ASB. I'm still a fan, I still go to games and cheer them. I just didn't expect to see any games in October. Even if we snuck in, I think we'll get bounced out more quickly than last year. I fear that we'll repeat what happened in the AL West a number of years ago. I remember either the Angels or As going something like 18-5 over a stretch of games, but actually lost ground because the other team went 22-0.
  9. I wonder if Packer fans would still be happy if the cap was never created in the NFL. Their team would still suck like it was the 80's, and my Cowboys team could still "buy championships". I hate that the two teams that I follow that are rich (Cowboys and Redwings) now have to follow a cap, but my poor* team is still poor*. *I mean poor as a relative term. Obviously the Brewers are a multimillion dollar franchise. Only when compared to a Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, Cubs, etc do they become poor.
  10. If the NFL had the MLB open market, the Packers would have had to trade Favre in about '99 because they wouldn't have been able to afford to keep him. The Packers were also able to go out and get White. The Brewers know we'll lose Fielder and Braun in 6 years. We also can't go out and get the best player at a position who's on the FA market. I like the NFL system because every team has the same starting point in terms of salary to spend. If the baseball system is so great, why do every fantasy league give it's owners the same amount of money to spend every year?
  11. I know I'm just a punk nerd living in his parent's basement (or a 30yo STH who owns a house and car), but I can't wait for The Machines to become umpires.
  12. Outside of a pitcher batting, there are no productive outs before the eighth inning.
  13. Congrats to Carlos Lee for #300. I'm also happy that the Brewers were up big and no one was on base when he got it.
  14. Maybe if Billy would stop posing for every flyout that he hits...
  15. The first base coach doesn't really make decisions about trying for an extra base. He's there to help with the SB situation (so why do we bother having a first base coach?) and reminding runners what to do on various balls in play. The batter/runner usually makes their own decision about whether to run. Every once in a while the first base coach will help. The third base coach almost always makes the call as to whether to go home since the runner can not see the ball running towards 3rd. The third base coach must also be able to relay the coach's signs, doing it in such a way that the batters and runners know the message but no one else does.
  16. He's talking about this now because the current tax isn't meeting expected revenue amounts. What happens if the Brewers slide back to 1.5 million fans?
  17. I think this is the biggest problem with the Brewer's offense. (But the biggest problem with the Brewers is pitching, a different thread). Hall, Hart, Hardy, Cameron, McGee, Weeks. All right handed low BA high SLG hitters. All of them can have problems with a RHP that features a fastball/slider combo. If the starter is on his game, none of these guys can get a hit that day. Add in Kendall and the pitcher, and you have no offense that day. Face a pitcher who's off his stuff and we slg for 2.000 for the day. Fans perception is that we aren't consistant. This offense needs another lefty bat or two along with a some hitters to be more OBP dominated to hit in the top of the lineup. Hopefully Weeks keeps up what he was doing before for next year, and add in Gamel. But Melvin should spend his offseason working on getting better pitchers.
  18. Didn't we blast Yost for carrying an extra pitcher?
  19. Based on a comment I made earlier this year, Hawing was nice enough to send some passes my way. I did not get a chance to use them until this past Thursday. Here is an edited response to Hawing on my experience. [qoute][Hawing], We finally went to the Metavante Club on Thursday. We are saving two tickets for [my so's] birthday (*-**). I was saving the other one for a day game. A Nats day game seemed like a great time to go up there when it was empty. I called Wednesday afternoon to reserve a table for 1pm. I was told there was a 90 min max to be at the table. There was also a dress code, but it is buisiness casual or Brewers gear. Jeans are ok, but no ripped jeans. We went up there around 12.45. The seater couldn't find our reservation at first. She flipped the res list over and I was one of only two people to have a time of 1pm or later. We were seated right at the glass next to the splash zone. It was a great shot of Bernie, but we couldn't see any of the walls so we could not see the home runs. You can not see the TVs from the glass tables, but they have 620 pipped into the Club. It has a weird ambiance, since the glass is thick enough to keep out the sound of the stadium. You really can't hear the scoreboard announcements, nor can you hear the crowd. You can hear them through the broadcast. It's really weird. The food was alright, but overpriced like everything else [at the Keg]. The buffet is between $28 and $38 per plate, depending on what the chef has cooked that day. The salads that day were not as good as the ones I've had at the Gehl club. The meat was also either tough chicken, or overcooked. Sodas were $3.50, but had free refills. We did opt to share a dessert. The creme brulee was amazing. With tip, our entire meal came to $89. The place was empty when we finished. Our server told us that they had no reservations and did not need our table, so we were allowed to stay there the rest of the game. We did leave the Club after the 7th inning. [My SO] has never been up to the 3rd level before, so I went to go take her around. Nobody was manning the door between the Club and the rest of the level, so we spent the rest of the game admiring the pictures along the level. We both liked the experience, but felt it missed the connection to the fans and the game that normal seats have [in the field level bleachers]. We also don't have the money to spend that much on lunch very often. But we both thank you for sharing those passes. If you need any programs or anything, just let me know in advance. [Robin19] [edited for public consumption and to also fix spelling errors. I don't know why my spell check automatically checks posts like these, but not PMs]
  20. DM gives up Escobar and/or Gamel to get a rental legitimate 1 or 2 starter for this year. And we get slaughtered in the playoffs again. We go into 2010 with horrible pitching again. And everyone complains about why DM doesn't have pitching in the system.
  21. Why would Harang decline a $14M option?
  22. The same thing they did after Fergeson admitted to using the spitball.
  23. The Brewers and Packers don't play in the same city. Jhart asked about local teams.
  24. Right now Cam is 5th in MLB CF in OPS, only .001 behind Victorino for 4th. And he plays plus defense. We had nobody to man CF in our system ready for the majors. I think that's a great signing by DM.
