I thought it was going to fall just over the 2nd baseman's head. I didn't think he got that much but it went off the wall. -

I don't get this move at all. The kid should take every at bat.

Ortiz's running path is established when the fielder first tries to tag him. At that point Ortiz was on the very edge of the infield grass in fair ground. So his running path was a straight line from that point to the bag. He avoided the tag by going right with his foot landing on the runner's line in foul territory. I believe that line is 3 feet from the foul line. Which means he went more than 3 feet to the right to avoid the tag. That was probably the correct call.

Are the projections only looking at the pitching? I wonder if they aren't taking into account the defense?

Sanchez probably saw that the contact play was on and feared a ground ball would result in a home to first double play. But two runners in scoring position and two strikeouts. This pitcher is really good. Or our offense is bad. Edit: three strikeouts ...

As of right now there are only 4 teams in the NL with a winning record. Across baseball there are 11 teams with a winning record and 17 teams with a losing record.

No. It was three tight games. Baseball luck went with the Phillies that series. It could have easily gone the Brewers way and the sweep could have gone the other way. I just hope that luck comes the Brewers way come October.

I wouldn't worry about it. The Phillies lineup is good so they should be able to get hits well before a walk happens.

I don't know what this means. But I do know the Packers could also go 30 straight innings without scoring a run on the Cubs starting pitchers.

I pay for MLB.tv. I pay for Bally streaming. Yet I had to wait until today to watch last night's game. I don't get upset about the games on Fox because I can still watch that for free without giving up my CC info. I'm tempted to just cancel the subscriptions at the end of the year and start pirating the games.

The runner does not have the right to be in the way. The fielder has the right to go after the batted ball. If the runner is in the way that is interference. A quick look on my small phone screen says that was technically the correct call of interference. But I would either wave off the infraction or call it a dead ball and no catch. I made that exact call in youth baseball but the fielder has fallen and not made the catch.

According to BBR, Verlander was 2-0 against the Brewers giving up 5 total runs in 4 games. Another interesting stat was that he had given up 5 HR to the Brewers so today also marked the first time the Brewers were able to score a run without a HR off Verlander. Verlander is still 16-0 in 21 games combined against the Cubs, Marlins, Phillies, Giants, and Nationals. Pretty amazing.

We take the lead and he gives up a homer and a single. He should just be PO'd he wasn't able to get a clean 5th.
