And they've been going with that model for 20 of the last 25 years. It's gotten them exactly 2 playoff series wins -- and they got those because they had one of the best 2-guards of all time in his prime. Then, instead of building around him.... they traded him for a washed up point guard and signed a much worse player to a max deal.

Random MLB News And Discussion 2012

Considering his FIP and xFIP are both under 4, he's been horribly unlucky to have an ERA that high. -
They are signing assets like they have a championship caliber team, or a franchise type player to build around. Instead of compiling assets to get that franchise player (like, y'know, cap space and draft picks), they are giving them away for guys like Stephen Jackson and signing 5 year deals to average PF's like Ersan.

Yeah, we need a 3, and I hear Corey Magette might be available.
-
Had to run errands... why did Greinke get pulled?
-
Fixed! I can hardly even read IGTs. So much negativity. ...and Twirly, don't forget, Maldanado can bunt. That's like a 1.200 OPS to RR.

I'm hoping for a first pitch ejection.... ha!

There's already rumors that trades are in the works to clear up the logjam. There's a very good chance Gooden won't even be here, and wouldn't surprise me if one of Sanders and Udoh is gone too. Ilyasova will start at the 4, and Mbah a Moute and Henson will get backup minutes there, and Sanders or Udoh will backup at the 5. Likely some combo of Gooden, Udrih, and Sanders/Udoh will be traded for a wing. I will believe it when I see it. There were rumors of plenty of trades last year at the deadline, none of which came to fruition. The idea that any other team would actually want Gooden would come as a shocker to me. Don't worry, though, Ersan is our young guy, so it's okay to overpay him.... just like Redd, Gadz, Mo Williams, Tim Thomas....
-
Considering 5/35 was the best offer he got, and they decided to pay him an extra 2 mil a year as the Milwaukee tax.... yeah. Horrible deal.
-
Greinke got the loss for throwing 4 pitches.... almost as bad as the time Brian Shouse got the loss for coming in and IBBing one hitter, only to have Coco blow the save in STL.
-
5/45 for Ersan, and I'd wager he doesn't even start this year. Skiles will start Gooden at PF, play him 15 minutes there, and 15 minutes as the backup C. Gooden, Ersan, Sanders, Udoh, Henson, Moute.

In my experience, the last two years, very few HR people have a clue what job hunters are going through and the job-hunting industry has completely lost it's personal touch. I've had interviews scheduled for positions I am completely unqualified for, I even had one case where I sat down to a second interview and it turned out I was interviewing for a completely different position than the one I'd interviewed for over the phone (and no one bothered to tell me this) and I've had about 1/4th of the companies I interviewed with even follow up with me afterwards.

Thank you Mr Bayless.

I just forsee that Gooden will still start at PF, and get backup C minutes on top of that.....

I'm really getting sick of this team making outs on the bases while Braun is either already hitting, or coming up. It has happened 3 times now in the last 3 games, and it is a bit ridiculous. I don't care what anyone says, that is on RR, he needs to tell these guys, "Hey, don't be stupid and make outs when the 2nd best hitter in the NL is coming up next."

Why do scouts go to major league games?

I would be amazingly shocked if MLB teams did not have access to the raw feeds of every television broadcast so they could see all those things. -
I found that it is rather warm outside today. I'm not looking forward to attempting to sleep without A/C tonight.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9BvKREK1rU RIP, Andy. I grew up watching that show and whistling that tune as a kid. It might just be the most whistled song ever.

I am sure it wouldn't have made a difference, but having watched the Bell Ambulance people completely fail at: 1) Getting the stretcher off of the golf cart and 2) Putting it back on the golf cart and securing it I want no part of them ever putting me on a stretcher at Miller Park, even if I need it. I want people to carry me on a gurney if need be.

It could be worse....

Fielder left? That may sound far-fetched, but I imagine that Prince would have just about killed someone by now for all the sloppy play we're seeing. I don't know that we have anyone currently on the roster or the coaching staff that "demands excellence." Of course I also don't know that we don't currently have anyone like that, but I'm starting to believe that Prince brought a lot more to the table than just his big bat. Everything everyone has said, said specifically Prince did NOT do anything like that. It was Counsell, Hawkins, Kotsay, etc. NOT Prince. The same way everyone says "Braun leads by example."

I have found that most women do not know what this means.
-
Clearly it was a need pick, we had to replace the PF bench spots that Leuer and Brockman had left. Can't wait to see Drew Gooden for 37 minutes a night again this year while Sanders, Udoh and Henson rot on the bench.
