  1. I wish I could make it. Make sure you get kalle some Usingers!
  2. http://www.examiner.com/article/free-25th-street-exit-reconfiguring-lanes-for-i-43-s-to-i-94-w-is-common-sense
  3. It really depends what you're using it for. If all you're doing is internet/writing/movies, most anything you buy new should last 6 years.
  4. From what I read it was people merging onto 94, coming from 43 when traffic was stopped, due to people having to merge over into one lane (from 2 lanes of traffic) and the exit ramp to 25th street not being clear. Then people driving onto the shoulder to get to the exit. Again, this is random internet speculation. I couldn't find an actual link to the police report study that the article referenced.
  5. My first thought would be, does she need a laptop? Would a tablet do? Secondly, I love cnet for it's reviews, so take a peek.... Also, don't forget to hunt for coupons online.... Found this one for HP if you decide to go that route: NBQ1148 for 25% off your order.
  6. RRR never would've pulled Hoffman from the closers role. Never. Heck, he was all set to demote Fiers and let Estrada start again had Marcum not gotten hurt.
  7. After some googling, it looks as though the change was made to curtail people driving illegally to get off at the 25th street exit. Ridiculous as it is, there simply isn't enough room for 5 lanes of traffic there, and people were driving across the shoulder to get to the 25th street exit on a consistent basis.
  8. It was a horse apiece for them, 43 was backing way up during rush hour, due to it's merge going down to 1 lane. They added a lane to 43 merging into 94 and got rid of one on 794. If I were working down town and wanting to go west now, I'd get onto 43 S at McKinley, and just go right onto 94 from there.

  10. It was September 6th, I was at the game, and I'll never forget the angry scream he let out when he finally got the last out. I can't help but think that 120 pitch outing (followed up by 113) finally overtaxed his elbow and cost him a run in the playoffs.
  11. Defense means something. Hart is very, very good at 1B. Lucroy is by far our best defensive C, no matter what everyone thinks of Maldanado. Lucroy also won't continue to hit .330, and I like the odds of Morgan/Gomez out producing Maldanado going forward.
  12. Yes, it's so much more likely they outplay 8 teams to get to the wildcard than 3 teams to get the division title. Sigh.
  13. McCutchen has had a ridiculously good first half of the season. Braun has had a ridiculously good career. Braun's season low batting average is also the same as McCutchen's season high. It's not much of a discussion until McCutchen proves he can put up all star numbers year in and year out. And their career OBPs are exactly the same, even though Braun is two years further into his peak. Plus McCutchen plays a phenomenal CF, while Braun plays a very mediocre LF (although, I will say he's looked better this season).
  14. Looks like the best way to catch the game will be on MLB.TV. I'll have to fire up my PS3 for this one. Can't wait! I'm going to fire it up on my computer, and give Jim Powell a good listen.
  15. Logic in general, would seem to dictate that no run should score, or else you'd have guys running out into the outfield to try to knock down a fly ball anytime there are guys on with two outs. I just can't seem to find the actual relevant rule.
  16. Situation: Bases Loaded, 2 outs. Slow ground ball hit right up the middle. Guy on 3rd touches home plate. Then the ball hits the runner going from 1st to 2nd. Dead ball, runner is out. Does the run count? Per the mlb rules: From the official rule book Rule 7.08: the runner is out if "He is touched by a fair ball in fair territory before the ball has touched or passed an infielder. The ball is dead and no runner may score, nor runners advance, except runners forced to advance. EXCEPTION: If a runner is touching his base when touched by an Infield Fly, he is not out, although the batter is out; The bold part is what I'm not sure of.
  17. Figure 6IP/start, that means he needs 12 or so starts to get up to 160. Starting every 5.5 days (a longer estimate) means he only has to start for 9ish weeks... which means they have a solid 3 weeks to get him into the rotation.
  18. I think it's totally 100 pct irrelevant how many teams are ahead of us with 80 games to play. I heard Rock say that the other day when talking about the Phillies. How they were 11 games out. Then BA said, and they're behind....however many teams and Rock said, "and that's even MORE important." No, no it is not. Not halfway through the season. I guarantee they'd rather be 2 games out behind 10 teams than 11 games out and behind 5 for a playoff spot. One team can fall apart. Two might. But I severely doubt all 4 teams in front of the Phillies will. The Brewers don't just have to get hot. They have to get hot AND be hotter than 8 other teams just to make the wild card.
  19. Must we do this with everyone? Although, I'm sure RR is already one step ahead of us here. Yes. Yes we must. Especially when invoking his name makes me think of: http://emotibot.net/pix/267.jpg Now we just gotta get him to come into the game with...
  20. RR: How's your pitching, Thorny? Thorny: Good. I've been on the black all morning. RR: What about that little guy? [points to a batter crumbled on the ground after taking a bean ball] Thorny: Who, that little guy? I wouldn't worry about that little guy.
  21. It's basically the new shiny bauble, making his big league debut thing. Always brings an additional edge to it -- I'm just hoping for better than Chris Barnwell production. Lest you forget, Barnwell also managed to plow into Prince on two separate occasions on pop ups behind 1st base. I'm pretty sure after the 2nd one, he didn't see the field again for the Brewers.
  22. Funny, yes, the OF talent right now is a bit down, but look how loaded 1B is in MLB right now. How loaded 3B is. How loaded C is. Who was the best 1B of the 50's? 60's? Killebrew? Cepeda? McCovey? Great, yes, but do any of those 3 crack the top 5 in MLB right now?
  23. If they go after him as a free agent, they don't have his Bird rights, so they can't offer an extra year, nor can they go over the cap for him.
  24. Beyond the Box score had a great writeup on Fiers, and how he does an amazing job of keeping hitters off balance (and why he gets so many fly balls). Question for the everyone: When is he "For real" in your opinion? I am hopeful he keeps this up, I really think he could be a solid #3 or an average #2 going forward... but I still think the league will adjust.
