  1. My votes would go to Edgar, Raines, Bagwell and Trammell. I don't think that Bernie Williams is good enough. I don't see him as anything different than Luis Gonzalez without the PEDs, great post season statistics might sway a borderline guy for me, but just being in the post season over and over again, being the byproduct of the Yankees money machine, won't make me vote for a guy. Williams played in the 2nd most post season games of anyone in history, 121. So, his 80 RBI's are not that impressive. He had the benefit of TWO additional rounds of playoffs compared to the guys who played in the 50's, and 3 additional playoff spots in his own league.
  2. The funny thing is, Randy Johnson had an even better year than Sheeter.... and didn't win the Cy Young because he only had 16 wins.
  3. What is missing from that snippet is that the deferred payments were in lieu of paying Bonilla 5.9M. I don't think inflation would've covered that...
  4. Really what the last 5 seasons have shown that you have to WIN to make money. The team drew 3 million fans, they also had the 17th highest ticket prices in MLB (just over $20) -- to put that in perspective, 4 teams had average ticket prices DOUBLE what the Brewers had this year. The Cardinals, for example, had an average ticket price of $30+, so, if they drew a paltry 2M fans they'd make the same as the Brewers drawing 3M from attendance alone.
  5. Well, they went 80-81 last year, if they slide Fielder into that lineup, and move Morse to LF and have a full season of Strasburg, they would probably gain 6-8 projected wins off that alone, which would put them in the Wild Card hunt at the very least.
  6. Do you mean the band that goes just below a guy's knee? That's actually a patella strap, and, per Amazon:
  7. The reports today are suggesting a 66 game season, beginning on Christmas. So, somehow they have lost 2 months of "real time" and only one month of games. Look forward to a lot of back-to-back-to-back games, and 4 games in 5 days. I'd rather have a 50 game season and good basketball.
  8. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20111121&content_id=26015614&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb I'm surprised. It really wasn't close, either. He had more than double the first place votes of the next closest guy.
  9. He's a lot better than a league minimum guy. The problem last year was he was grossly overworked the first 70 games of the season (in which he threw in 37 of the games -- that's an 85 game pace for a season!!) Funny how he ended up pitching a lot better when he wasn't throwing every other day.
  10. I cannot get over the fact that after what was probably the most watched and most successful season since Jordan retired the second time, that the owners and players have allowed this to happen. I think I am one of about 20 remaining Bucks fans in Milwaukee, and I don't think I'll be attending any games this season, or be purchasing season tickets again anytime in the future.
  11. One load of whites, one load of colors, one load of bed sheets, one load of towels, $1 for the washing machine, $1 for the dryer = $16.Clearly, you're not a math major.... 4x2=8 :-D
  12. It looks like they are only going to play 3 guards this year (Brust seems to be the backup at PG and 2-Guard right now), so I don't see him moving into a starting role. He'll get a lot of PT spelling both Gasser & Taylor. I could see them going 3 guards down the stretch in a game if the matchup favors them, but I keep holding out hope that Evans will step up. He had 3 bad TO's in the Kennesaw St game, and Bo pulled him right away each time. Rob Wilson might see a lot of time at the 3 this year.
  13. They'd be better off moving Braun to SS, it is his natural position.
  14. What are you smoking because I want some of that. Reyes has great range at SS and comparing Reyes to Yuni is like comparing a Yugo to a Mercedes Benz yes they are both cars but that is where the comparisons end. When Reyes has been healthy he has great range. I would rather take Reyes as he brings in more value than Barmes even at a higher price tag. I just don't believe Barmes is going to hit at all and while his defense is nice I would prefer to have someone like Reyes. Also I believe that Barmes is going to cost to much compared to the production you will get from him.UZR/150 2010, 2011:Yuni: -9.2, -7.4 Reyes: -5.7, -3.6 Barmes: 14.9, 10.8 Reyes is a lot closer to Yuni than he is to Barmes defensively. Reyes is likely to cost 4 to 5x as much as Barmes, and there is no way he gives 4 to 5x the production. Not to mention, you'll have to sign him for 6 years.... not two.
  15. So, suddenly they are looking at 45 interleague games, meaning 21 or 24 games with the DH every season, spread further apart, up from the current 9? That just gives a horrible advantage to the American league teams.
  16. What about Hiroyuke Nakajima? I'll admit, I don't know that much about him, but seeing things like this: Makes him intriguing.
  17. I'm on team Jacob! I don't even know what that means. I just like saying it very loudly whenever I see/hear people talking about Twilight. Reactions are always priceless.
  18. I just want to compare two players last 3 seasons: (BA/OBP/SLG/OPS) Weeks: 2009: 272/340/517/857 2010: 269/366/464/830 2011: 269/350/468/818 Reyes: 2009: 279/355/395/750 2010: 282/321/428/749 2011: 337/384/493/877 Very very similar, Weeks has more power and Reyes, last year, had his BABIP jump by 40 points over his career average. Looking at this, I just can't see the justification for paying Reyes 20 million a season. Or more than 11 or 12 million a season. I just don't see him as more than a .750-800 OPS SS (valuable? Yes. Just not 18-20M valuable, imo) going forward. Not an .850-900 OPS SS.
  19. So Suppan signing for more and he was a flop and you would be worried about $30m? The Brewers have signed many players that were flops for a lot more than $30m.Combined, maybe, but Sheets was the first guy to get a 30M deal from the team and that was 2005. After that came Suppan, and now Braun & Gallardo. Hall's deal came close, but that was only 4/24.
  20. Can someone explain to me what prevents these college student athletes from taking out student loans? Funny, how I've never heard the guy getting a track scholarship or the girl getting a ride for swimming begging to be paid.
  21. So, Mat Gamel and Taylor Green.... just.... let them rot on the bench and don't trade them?
  22. Linky-link I am sure he truly wanted to play for Philadelphia, I can't imagine an AL team wouldn't have offered him more money.
  23. 1) You don't get an error when you make a bad throw unless you throw it into the stands, which is REALLY hard to do for a LF. 2) Guys don't run on Hart as much as they do on Braun 3) Have you watched Braun throw? (an extreme example, but.... yeah... he didn't get an error for that throw!) 4) At least 3 of Braun's assists were on balls he misjudged and made diving catches on, doubling guys off. Oh, another example...
  24. My suggestions would include: Are there internal cables that need to be hooked from the mobo to the speaker plugins? Are the speakers plugged into the correct slot? (My Dad always manages to plug his speakers into the microphone port) For XP settings, go into device manager, and make sure that there is a listing under Sound/Video Game Controllers.
