  1. I'd say that they will need to protect 10-12 of those prospects next year. Its an incredible list. I wonder if this will impact FA signings this year. Every multi year contract we sign means one of those players wont be protected. Or they will be encouraged to trade some of them.
  2. As you said, they have until Monday. They may be hoping the players will sneak through waivers. The closer to the deadline the better chance they will sneak through
  3. I thought Yamamoto was a hard thrower. Somewhere around 95 MPH. Maybe I'm mis-recalling.
  4. Are you suggesting Braun is a platoon bat now? He had an 808 OPS vs RH last year. I'd be surprised if Braun was not the starting LF. Brinson and Phillips will be platooning in CF or one will be back in AAA. I think Bandy comes back as the bC. He started out strong, went into a slump and then got hurt. I think he'll get another chance. Last year he showed a glimpse of what he could do with the bat.
  5. I'd look at younger "project" type pitchers or guys near the end of their career who wont command long term deals. We have enough minor league depth that I dont want any pitchers locked up long term. Sabathia would be my preference on a veteran. Or even RA Dickey. H.Santiago, W.Miley (a lefty would be nice), or Pineda are still young enough that they could comeback. I would take Chatwood if we can get him on a 2 year deal. If they pick up 2 or 3 of these players we have a shot at least one of these having a good year. If they dont produce by mid year, we start trying out some of the rookies.
  6. I'm looking forward to seeing Isan at AA. Expecting a big year from him in 2018.
  7. I like to process and would not change a thing. It is always good to get differing opinions. Everyone values prospects differently and even the "experts" get things wrong. the Brewers have had a long list of prospects that the mainstream experts never gave them credit (M.Brantley, Khris Davis, Mike Fiers, M.Pina, etc). Most people here follow what the experts tell us. So to get a perspective from someone like Clancy, who values statistics greater than skills, should not be discounted. I like to hear the different perspectives and then make my own opinion from that. The best way to normalize the results is to have as many entries as possible.
  8. Why do we want to sign an aging SP to a long term deal? Didn't we learn our lesson over the past few years. If there was a true TOR SP, I'd say go for it. I just don't see it this year. If we want to sign a few reclamation projects for a 1 or 2 year deals, I'd be ok with that. But a 4 year Middle of the rotation (or worse) starter makes no sense. I thought that was why we were obtaining all this controllable depth.
  9. Do Houser, Wang, and Lopez have any options left next year? That will play a role in who makes the bullpen next year. Williams has an option left. He may be the odd man out.
  10. Jungman is out of options next year so he will either be in the rotation/bullpen or on the waiver wire.
  11. Congrats to Craig! Fans always complain about the manager. We can all relate to the decisions a manager makes and we of course have our personal opinion on them. I thought Craig did a good job with the rotation. He had a pretty quick hook, surprising me many of times. But in the end, that was the right move and the way of the future. He deserves credit where credit is due.
  12. My list with a Sickel's like grading system: A- 1. Hiura B+ 2. Brinson 3. Woodruff 4. Burnes B 5. Phillips 6. Ortiz 7. M.Harrison 8. T.Lutz 9. F.Peralta B- 10. Erceg 11. I.Diaz 12. T.Clark 13. Gatewood 14. Ray C+/B- 15. Bickford 16. Dubon 17. Ponce 18. Supak 19. Pennington 20. Houser 21. Nottingham 22. T. Williams 23. Stokes 24. Diplan C+ 25. Medieros 26. C. Herrera 27. M.Feliciano 28. KJ Harrison 29. B. Derby C 30. Wilkerson 31. Z. Brown 32. Yamamoto 33. G. Garcia 34. C.Lemons 35. J. Perrin 36. A. Pinero 37. Coulter 38. T.Taylor 39. Vassalotti 40. Je'Von Ward 41. Kirby 42. D. Williams 43. J.Lopez 44. Orimoloye 45. Brendan Murphy
  13. Nick Neugebauer. Great minor league K/9 numbers but very wild. Was rushed to the majors then got hurt. Too bad. Would have been fun to see what he could have done.
  14. Ya, I'd pass on Cobb. I'm done with signing mediocre SP for long term deals (Suppan, Wolf, Garza). Unless we get a TOR starter in a trade or FA, I'd rather just go with the kids on the farm. Go with Wilkerson, A. Ventura, Jungmann to begin with and then Derby, F.Peralta, Burnes, Ponce, Ortiz if they fail. They have a lot of options.
  15. You realize that in what you quoted above Shaw has a 787 OPS vs LH and Perez has a 796 OPS vs LHs. That is such a subtle improvement that it is barely worth mentioning. Thames is a different story. A straight platoon of him and Aguilar makes sense. And keep Thames out of the OF next year.
  16. 81 wins now! Guarantees Brewers cannot have a losing season.
  17. With Shaw's SB, the Brewers are the first team in major-league history to have seven players with 10+ HR and 10+ SB. Braun got to 10 SB on Sunday. http://www.foxsports.com/wisconsin/story/statuesday-milwaukee-brewers-ryan-braun-travis-shaw-steal-home-run-record-090517 Pretty cool.
  18. Hanhold now comes off the list. Great, who am I going to find to fill the #82 slot on my top 100 prospect list.
  19. All the Mets could really hope for is a lottery ticket and that is what this is. A lottery ticket that has an upside of a RP so probably not much of a reward. Who knows. It's worth the risk IMO to get Walker.
  20. Wasn't all that hard of a call but this is the first thing I've gotten right all year so I would like to take credit. My next prediction is that Garza gets the Suter treatment and is pulled after 3 innings. Garza has already been getting the Suter treatment , due to ineffectiveness. He should only be given 3 innings if he pitches well and based on his starts the last few months, that is unlikely. The last time he made it 6 innings was July 5th. Pretty sad...
  21. Very excited to see Taylor Williams pitch. He could nasty out of the bullpen this year. A real weapon ala Hader but from the right side. Hopefully he and Hader get a shot at the rotation next spring.
  22. I'd rather try our own prospects than someone else's castaway. Why not Angel Ventura or Wilkerson?
  23. i'd be ok trading Santana as long as we get good value. Khris Davis is a similar player to Santana (good power/offense, weak defense) and I was underwhelmed with who we got back. The trade looks even worse now that Nottingham has stagnated in AA. We need TOR pitching prospect. Just not sure Santana would net that in a trade.
  24. Well, we just picked up Aaron Brooks and we have Oliver Drake and Ty Webb on the 40 man now. All are his age or older with similar "upside". Personally, I'd take a shot on Ramirez. A Loogy (or better) who can PH and hit HRs. That seems like ok upside.
  25. Why do you think Vogt will be retained? He has a poor throwing arm and will be arby eligible. He is likely to get a decent raise. I think he is likely to be non tendered. Opens up a 40 man spot.
