  1. Yikes, Odorizzi with a terrible outing tonight. Gave up 7 runs without even recording an out. It looks like Anundsen is also throwing a couple innings tonight.
  2. TheCrew, Chris Mehring said in his blog last night that Lasker topped out at 92 and was mostly working on his breaking stuff. I'm thinking of driving down to Beloit on Saturday night to get a look at him, so hopefully I'll get a good read on his fastball.
  3. BC's bats were relatively quiet until they exploded in the 8th and 9th inning. Schafer and Farris with two hits each and 7 rbi's between them.
  4. And are they seriously going to keep Gamel down in Nashville to help them get to the playoffs when he could be getting much needed experience in the big leagues while the Brewers are out of playoff contention? That's about as lame as it gets.
  5. Braddock threw a grand total of 4 pitches tonight. In his last outing, which was 4 days before tonight, he threw 6 pitches. I guess it would be an extreme understatement to say they are being cautious with him.
  6. This organization is a joke right now. First it's Gamel. Now it's Escobar. I'm going to say Escobar gets maybe two starts a week now that Hardy is back up. And when Gamel is recalled, he'll get the same treatment. You would think being 12 games back at the beginning of September would be reason enough to let the young guys play, but apparently this organization has other goals in mind.
  7. Nothing happening on the trade front, not really a big surprise. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/56460852.html
  8. Wow, cool news. I didn't even know Lasker got moved up. Should be an exciting night.
  9. Thanks for all your insight MTBrew. It's nice to get these firsthand accounts on our prospects. Anyway, I know you've said that you don't have a good handle on evaluating pitchers, but I was just wondering if you've been able to watch Odorizzi yet and if you have, what do you think of him? Thanks
  10. Well it wasn't a very good night pitching wise until Odorizzi came into the picture. 4.2 IP, 8 SO, no walks, and 1 ER.
  11. Whoa, I didn't even realize BC was playing yet. What a nice surprise to open up the boxscore and see Rogers with that pitching line. I believe this is also the first time this year that he has gone at least 5 innings too.
  12. Yeah, it would be pretty exciting and actually worth watching if Gamel, Escobar, and maybe even Salome played nearly every game, but heaven forbid we hurt anybody's feelings by sitting them in favor of the young guys.
  13. So what happened to the gentleman's agreement not to block players from other teams this year?
  14. For an organization that desperately needs every pitching prospect they can get, it would be ludicrous not to add Rivas to the 40-man only to see him get snatched up in the Rule 5.
  15. Hiram Burgos has given up a lot of runs so far but has a very nice SO:BB walk ratio in 47 innings pitched (42:11). Between Burgos, Bucci, Arnett, Heckathorn, and Odorizzi, Wisconsin's pitching staff next season will be a lot of fun to watch/follow.
  16. What I don't understand is why we still don't know who the team is yet that made the claim. When it was reported that a team claimed Doug Davis off waivers, we knew right away that it was the Brewers.
  17. Anundsen and Heckathorn with great outings tonight. Wisconsin was stinking it up again but luckily the game was cancelled due to rain.
  18. Since it seems like Salome can't seem to recover from his injury, I wonder if they will shut him down for the rest of the season and have him come back fresh and injury-free next year. If that does happen, I wonder if they would add Lucroy to the 40-man and have him start some games in Milwaukee to get him ready for the AFL. Or would it be a total waste to add him to the 40-man just so he could get a few starts in September?
  19. This must have been a pretty wild play: Freddy Parejo singles on a ground ball to right fielder Cody Strait. Jonathan Lucroy scores. Taylor Green scores. Shane Justis scores. Freddy Parejo scores. Missed catch error by right fielder Cody Strait. Throwing error by right fielder Cody Strait.
  20. Schafer so far has 4 hits including a grand slam, double, and 5 rbi's. Gindl and Farris with a couple hits apiece. Edit: Ahh, beat me to it trwi.
  21. Why he's not in Helena yet I don't know, but I could see him being a lefty specialist out of the bullpen like Mitch Stetter is.
  22. Is D'Vontrey Richardson going to play at all this year?
  23. Lawrie is batting lead-off today and starts things off with a triple.
  24. It was a bad throw by Parra. Tough play for Escobar to make.
  25. Over his last 25 IP, Rogers has given up just 2 ER with 28 strikeouts. Nice outing for him tonight.
