  1. As long as it isn't a Bobby Bonilla type deferral I am OK with it
  2. From that list you would think Melvin was the worst GM in the history of sports. Melvin has kept this team consistenly competitive for a while now; considering where things were 5-10 years ago I would say Melvin has done a pretty darn good job. Perfect no; every GM makes mistakes, but he has gotten us to the playoffs twice, the NLCS once, and atleast in contention for the playoffs for other years as well. Sure maybe in bubble a GM could operate how you suggest but in the real world it isn't realistic. There isn't one GM in baseball that hasn't broken more than a couple of your rules.
  3. The payroll is to high as it is; Gamel is cheap and has proven himself in the minors. Just give him the job and hope for the best. Gamel and Krod is way better than Pena and whatever scrap heap relievers Melvin picks up after dumping Krod.
  4. He is going to death valley for RH hitters; so I doubt his power numbers increase. Still hope for the best from him. It will be interesting to see how much PT he gets over there.
  5. Krod and Loe do seem to be the worst 2012 salaries of the bunch. Loe is a dime a dozen reliever and his spot could be filled for less than a $1 Million. Krod wll fanastic has a horrible salary that is just begging to be traded. Really if they can trade K-rod while picking up $4 Million or so of the salary the Brewers would have some cash to fill out the bench and bullpen while getting that payroll down to $95M or so. (Absent the deferred money to ARam).
  6. Assuming they can replace Wolf internally with a current minor leaguer there is no reason the Aram signing prohibits them from signing one of Marcum or Grienke. You probably can't sign both anymore but that probably wasn't likely to begin with. Melvin is really banking on hitting it with one or two of the minor league pitchers in the next 1-2 years so 2 or 3 spots in the rotation can be filled with pre-arby players. If Peralta, Fiers, Thornburg, etc fail miseralbly at the MLB level; then we are going to have a problem.
  7. Same goes for 99% of the rest of the country. This isn't the justice system. All we know right now is that he screwed up and the burden of proof is on him to prove he didn't.
  8. Why is his 2010 line more likely than his 2011 line?2010 definitely looks like an outlier in his career. He has been incredibly consistent except for 2010.
  9. I know that DM has been courting Aram for a while now; I was just implying that the events over the past weekend might have caused DM to up the offer a little bit or atleast become more urgent to acquire some more offense. If the 3/34-37 is true I guess it is an OK deal and probably a steal if he can repeat his offensive performance. Obviously there is some downside here too.
  10. If anything the lineup will still be serviceable without Braun. Ramirez, Weeks, Hart, Lucroy, Gamel, etc won't be the worst offense in the league; pitching would have to step up big time
  11. I still don't get why Braun's circle would leak this unless they were sure he was guilty. If they felt they had any chance of winning the appeal no one would have said anything and the entire world would be oblivous right now and everyone would still love Braun. A leak from his side still makes no sense to me; they are putting up a fight and I don't know why they would also want to fight in the court of public opinion. Thats a no win situation IMO.
  12. Please don't be more than 3/30. Would be a solid addition otherwise. I like the signing but it reeks of desperation considering what went on over the weekend.
  13. Funny, I was just thinking the same thing. If you take a step back, that seems a lot more likely considering MLB has never leaked one before. On the other hand though a reigning MVP has never tested positive before and the juicy gossip might have been too hard to keep secret. It still would surpise me that Braun's folks would leak this; especially if they thought they had any chance of winning the appeal. The only way they would leak anything is if they knew Braun was guilty as sin and wanted to try to sway the court of public opinion. To bad Braun's PR team put the ax to Braun's idea to hold a press conference explaining everything; it would certainly clear things up a bit. Obviously he couldn't talk about it without screwing up his defense I'll believe that Braun's camp has a valid defense when I see it; all that we know now could be PR spin for all we know. It just sucks that this is going to drag on for a month and I am sure DM and Mark A would like to know if Braun is going to be out until June. If I were them I think you have to assume that he will be.
  14. Damn he must have taken something spiked with some drug to get that kind of test result. I can't imagine a roider would ever have a ratio that high since they almost surely would have been taking a masking agent as well. This definitely doesn't seem like to prototypical PED case.
  15. Nothing has even come from MLB yet. You do realize that all of this is supposed to be confidential? How about a witch hunt Sen. McCarthy? This is borderline ridiculous. We are fans we can say whatever the heck we want to say. Just because it was a Brewer this time we are just supposed to believe him blindly? He may get vindicated in this but to ridicule fans for getting on his case seems pretty ill advised IMO.
  16. So how could something other than a PED increase the testosterone level? Am I missing something here or are we not even talking about testosterone levels anymore?
  17. I don't care that ESPN ran the story; however if Braun wins his appeal I hope he goes after anyone and everyone who was responsible for leaking info that was confidential. That includes ESPN, MLB, MLBPA, the Testing Center; everyone. I am sure false positives have been overturned before and no one was the wiser; that ship has sailed in this case no matter the outcome. It still seems pretty darn likely he gets suspended here; but if he doesn't this is going to be a huge fiasco with lots of finger pointing and likely some lawsuits
  18. Are people really complaining about a rush to judgment on Braun? For goodness sakes the report came out and said he failed a PED test but was appealing the findings. That doesn't exactly instill confidence that he is innocent in this. I think it was a perfectly reasonable reaction for those that don't consider Braun "Holier than though." If this was anyone from any other team everyone would crucify him at the stake. This morning I have calmed down and will give him time to explain himself; but this still looks pretty damning
  19. So TH's latest blog indicates that the substance in question wasn't a PED? How does that make any sense?
  20. I rushed to judgment I will admit; only because it is hard to back a guy when something likes this comes out. Hopefully I and many others can eat our words. Just the fact that the testosterone was proven to be sythetic just seems very damning to me. I don't know what defense Braun has for it but I sure would like to know it
  21. If Braun actually does get exonerated; I would let the lawsuits fly if I were him. It would be hilarious to see ESPN get sued. I would be really interested to see who leaked the info; it sure as heck didn't come from Braun's side.
  22. Well how long was it between the 1st and 2nd test? I am sure that stuff could have gotten out of his system by the time he took the 2nd test. Synthetic testosterone doesn't just happen.
  23. Jeez that sounds pretty damning; 4 times the normal level and synthetic in nature? Ouch. We get to miss our #3 ane #4 hitter for the first 50 games next year; yay. Just start trading people and get it overwith; we aren't doing crap missing Braun for 1/3rd of the year. That is maybe suppose to be in blue; not sure at this point
  24. Boy let's hope so. This brings the quality of PED testing into question, among several other issues. Two thoughts: First, the most likely: Braun really is on something. He wasn't caught until this year. Not in the minors or five seasons in the majors. If these tests take so long to catch somebody, how many guys are still using? Second, there's the obvious (but slim) chance that Braun is being honest here. Let's hope this is the case. There would also be a 3rd option where he took something while honeslty not knowing the effects; pretty farfetched though
