  1. If I walked into the gym of a top tier program and saw an NIT championship banner, I don't think I'd even bat an eye. Even if it were Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, UNC. I'd probably just think to myself, "Geez, so even in the rare down year where they miss the big dance, they still know how to play championship ball and come out on top as winners. Sounds about right." With a mix of respect and envy.
  2. Yeah, I'd have him in my top 5 and he's not even in the Honorable Mention. Weird omission.
  3. Too much blame on Rodgers, I think. - Aaron Jones fumbles when we're driving and have all the momentum and 12-3 is a gimme and 16-3 is feeling likely. - Lazard drops easy first down. - Dillon drops super easy first down. - Doubs drops perfect pass for first down / big play. I believe all three of those drops killed their respective drives. (?) And obviously the fumble did. I think Rodgers faced an uphill battle with the performances around him today. EDIT: And that's just the offensive side of the equation. ST did very little / nothing to help. Defense with a couple of critical deadball penalties and no takeaways.
  4. Ah, indeed. If it's correct that the clock is stopped despite declining, then it could've been 4th down at the 2 minute warning. (Or, they convert the 3rd & short to have 1st down at the 2 minute warning -- maybe MLF expected the D to fail to hold.) Probably the wrong move to take the 10 yards. Although, if that hook & ladder play would've been incomplete or even stopped for no/short gain, the 10 yards could've been impactful.
  5. I'll take your word for it, but even still, in this case it didn't cost us any time. 3rd down at the 2 minute warning either way. But accepting the penalty came with the benefit of pushing DET back 10 yards. So in this case I think it actually would have been a very foolish coaching decision to decline the penalty. EDIT: Unless I'm missing something?
  6. After declining the penalty, the clock would have started with the ref's whistle and the would have run from 2:12 down to the 2 minute warning. Instead, they ran an additional play that was completed at 2:05 and ran down to the 2 minute warning.
  7. 3rd down with a running clock vs 2nd down with a stopped clock. I don't think it's a 45 second difference.
  8. Can't believe NBC's production team couldn't figure out to run the replay long enough to show Douglas' slap to the head of the Lions' player.
  9. Week 18 and the dropsies still plague the offense. Lazard with a pretty easy one, Dillon with a very easy one. Absolute killers.
  10. One fluke play. Dang. I'm in a survivor pool and a Titans win would've knocked out about 7 others. It was looking good for most of the game.
  11. Anyone else think Suzy, Booger, and Adam did an especially awful job filling time in their segments of the broadcast? Maybe they get a pass on the first segment when there wasn't much time to prepare, but the subsequent opportunities were just as bad -- if not worse -- with them just repeating the same heartfelt takes over and over. I wanted to expect more from a pro like Suzy Kolber, especially. She can't lead a compelling discussion with some interesting angles and thoughtful commentary? At the very least, shouldn't they have a producer in their ears suggesting talking points like... Similar incidents in NFL history, like Chuck Hughes in '71 or Mike Utley in '91 ... or in other sports like Hank Gathers in '90 Any precedent for football games being postponed due to weather, facilities issues, etc (especially where the game had already started) ... or, like, a World Series game being postponed by earthquake More background information about Hamlin and his career story Not to go off on deep tangents with any of those, but just as some natural topics to add to the mix as an audience of sports fans waited for more information. Instead, they just gave us vapid blather. For ESPN, the biggest sports network on the planet, I thought that crew came off as really amateurish and lazy in their coverage. Even a little incompetent.
  12. Just confirming, tonight's game doesn't appear to be on BTN, any ESPN channel, or anywhere else on cable?
  13. Tonight's Badgers bowl game starting on ESPN2 right now while earlier game finishes up on ESPN.
  14. Jesse Winker on MLB Hot Stove - Jesse Winker discusses American Family Field's appeal, his reaction to being traded to the Brewers, being familiar with the NL Central and more... https://www.mlb.com/video/jesse-winker-s-current-mindset
  15. I've been a don't-let-Leonhard-get-away guy, wanting him to get the HC nod here before being plucked to be the top guy elsewhere, but more recently have become a don't-miss-the-chance-to-grab-Leipold guy. Maybe this is the perfect opportunity to trial the former before pursuing the latter.
  16. There was no difference between a sack and an incomplete pass there. In fact, the sack might have been better to keep the clock moving / force a timeout.
  17. Rodgers missed seeing Doubs flashing left to right just like he missed Jones in the first half. I think he was being stubborn for something deeper.
  18. I feel like this timeout for the end of the 3rd quarter is coming at a good time for the Packers to set up their next couple of offensive plays.
  19. Would that have been challenge-able? I would have thrown the red flag regardless just to prove a point. Wiped out a huge return, totally got jobbed.
  20. I guess our 3rd down conversion rate was bound to regress to the mean, but failing on two straight 3rd and shorts is frustrating. That last attempt was really uninspiring.
  21. That block-in-the-back by Lazard was a drive killer. And totally unnecessary. Another turnover forced by our D ... awesome!
  22. Come on. Badgers were on their own 44. OSU was on the opponent 36. That's 20 yards difference.
  23. Can confirm Bally's feed issues is not just a problem in MKE market. Currently in Nashville watching Reds' Bally's broadcast and its almost constantly choppy and distorted, it's not even watchable. All other channels on this cable service are fine.
  24. I'm out somewhere and watching it without sound, so maybe I missed something, but I was referring to the late hit on the sidelines against a WR (?) ... wasn't the QB.
