  1. Does it include Darrell Porter and Harvey Kuenn? I think those are the only two deceased guys who might be on it. Even though Porter is deceased, finding items signed by him are not very hard -- same goes for Kuenn... I'd still say $150ish
  2. I think Dawson deserves it more than Rice. Agree 100%. To have the whole ceremony dedicated to him followed by a two hour, unedited speech by Rickey would have been the greatest! Rickey will probably be playing ball somewhere. I wonder who Tom Houdicourt and Scott Bartell voted for. I don't like Lee Smith or Jack Morris -- but otherwise TH's picks are hard to argue.
  3. Sorry about that, I didn't read what you wrote correctly -- at any rate -- he would likely have done substantially better than $12M
  4. Melvin offered Sheets the $12+ mil he would have got on a one year deal, had he accepted arbitration. Technically this isn't true (entirely) -- Sheets would have submitted an Arby's figure to counter the $12M (say $15M?), and then the arbitrator would have decided what salary to award Sheets. $12M would have been the WORST Sheets could have gotten, he could have won a larger amount in the Arby's process -- or forced DM to meet him in the middle, in a pre-Arby's negotiation.
  5. DatHoser did the best job.
  6. Was the music a song, that you could (theoretically) buy on Itunes or find on a CD at Wal-Mart? or Was the music a short arrangement of notes like as in a doorbell chime?
  7. I love how everyone that brings up the 5 million in cost savings for next year convienently forgets that he is owed an average of 8.5 million for the following 2-3 years after next. After Cameron leaves, we will have to pay someone to play CF -- so it is not like that 8.5 would not be spent at all...
  8. was her means of life support on the same power source as the music? EDIT: My guess: Woman is on life support, hooked into a machine that somehow sustains her life -- as she is listening to the radio. Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive" comes on the radio. The woman deftly unplugs the power strip from the wall sourcing the power to the radio and life support system and she dies.
  9. Was Bon Jovi involved?
  10. Who is Bob Eucker? Bob Eucker, correctly spelled "Bob Euchre" -- Is a radio personality for the 4th ranked AM radio station in the greater Wausau listening area. He is stalked by Pete Ladd.
  11. In addition to what X said, it should also be pointed out that the comp picks span from the 1st round through the 2nd, and that with the exception of the most recent drafts for obvious reasons, If you are really being thorough -- for the purpose of this discussion you need to disqualify picks 1-15, as they are protected -- and we are only really talking about picks that you could lose or acquire.... It could be possible that most of the 50% of the AS picks mentioned above come from the first 15 selections -- I don't know this to be true -- but it seems potentially misleading to me.
  12. Would Ned Yost be good at interpreting Tarot Cards?
  13. was the fortune teller a dude?
  14. You are going to spend $20 a month on paper towels anyway. This guy is pimping a new food chopper now... "You are going to love my nuts..."
  15. Both people watched a majority of the same games and saw a majority of the same plays. Their conclusions: FTJ - "Weeks is terrible defensively." Ennder - "Weeks is improving." Both could be true.
  16. Hmmm.... Kevin Bacon was in "New York I Love you" with Cloris Leachman Cloris Leachman was in The "Steagle" with John Hiestand John Hiestand was in Pride of the Yankees with Babe Ruth Babe Ruth was on the Yankees with Lou Gehrig Lou Gehrig was on the Yankees with Joe Gordon Joe Gordon was on the Tribe with Minnie Minoso Minnie Minoso was on the WhiteSox with Harold Baines Harold Baines was on the White Sox with Cam There you go.
  17. That is what making strides means, he is improving in a noticable fashion at least to my eyes. Fair enough -- I will respectfully disagree.
  18. Without a doubt in my mind Weeks improved last year defensively but then you obviously disagree with it, in fact you just stated that my observation doesn't mean I can claim he is making strides. If you said "I have observed Weeks to have improved last year" -- I would respectfully disagree with you. If you said "stats show that Weeks has made strides" -- implying that he reached a new level as a defender -- I would tell you that your stats do not allow you to conclude that. If you said "Weeks had a better year in 2008 than in 2007" -- I would probably agree with you, and point out he still sucks at catching and throwing baseballs.
  19. Most importantly though is the fact that he is cheap, if we were spending a lot on him it would be different but at his salary if he is 1 game above replacement he is worth it. I think Weeks sucks (relative to starting players), but this is the bottom line, and where I quit arguing. He is cheap. It will be interesting to see how much Arby's he is offered/receives.
  20. BIS actually shows Weeks as improving last year and to my observation it is correct, he made strides last year defensively for sure. He is still bad, and you cannot necessarily claim he is improving or making strides -- He may have made less errors, but that's going to naturally fluctuate from year to year, it is not as if he is going to do worse every year or exactly the same. Mota had a better year this year than he did last year, I don't think he improved though as a pitcher. Generally speaking fans judge a fielder on the first few games they watch involving him and then just remember the big blunders and great plays and the rest just passes by them. You keep saying this. I think it is about fine time you back it up with some stats. Generally speaking stat guys make arbitrary hand waving arguments about fans to discredit their observations, neglecting to realize that even in their admittedly general statement, it may be correct to a specific situation.
  21. Depending on the condition, it should be somewhere in the $150-$200 range.
  22. Get a decent pay day for 2009, and delay the big payoff for a year while proving you're healthy enough to get a big multi-year deal (and be worth that draft pick). For some teams, it would only be a #2 or even a #3. I would think Sheets is worth that...
  23. Actually -- as I think about this -- you could probably go back into the 50's and 40's rather easy. Cam played with Harold Baines, who played with Minnie Minoso -- which gets you solidly back into the 50s, you could probably get to Babe Ruth in a couple of steps.
  24. Enos Cabell! Easy -- Cabell - Valenzuela - Hoffman - Cameron
  25. I wanted to bump this thread -- The facility in Middleton has a 4th-5th grade winter boys league, that they are trying to get about 5 more dudes on to make a 6th (even numbered) team, so if you have a boy, 4th-5th grade in the Madison area... it might be a good time to get some games in... link
