  1. I haven't seen any direct quotes about the lineup change (although I don't subscribe to MJS so don't see Hogg's material) - I'm interested in more rationale on why he would move Frelick from the top. It seems like his move to leadoff coincided with their on fire stretch, and he also seems like a good fit. Let Yelich slug behind other runners.
  2. Yeah, seems like Mis pitched himself off the roster tonight.
  3. Hopefully I'm not beating a dead horse, but if we're talking about the NLDS (and let's not get ahead of ourselves), there are only 3 starters. Given how emphatic Murph has been about Quintana having a role in this postseason, my guess is if he's feeling ok it'll be Quintana, with Patrick starting if he can't go. Depending on the score it could be a piggyback with the two of them (or Myers), otherwise with the off days we can easily throw the BP A team out there to lock it down. Re status, latest I heard was Hall and Q are both throwing, so they would likely be physically able to pitch, it's just they may have had no real work before the playoffs.
  4. I hear what you're saying in general, but I just can't agree this year. We require no additional luck this year than any other team trying to navigate 3 series.
  5. We're talking about the same Dodgers team that has beaten the Brewers a total of... ZERO times this year? We need to stop underselling this team. They are the best team in baseball. Could anything happen next month? Of course! But we're the team that others don't want to play. Sure, the Phillies are feeling great about their chances as well, and that'll be a great NLCS if it ends up that way, but the Dodgers bullpen is an absolute dumpster fire and their offense is not the '27 Yankees, even if they do have a bunch of HOFers in it.
  6. Welcome! Also, "you must be kidding" isn't a productive response. Presumably the post and thought was serious, so treat it as such and avoid the condescending remark. It's a valid debate to have.
  7. How is that an actual concern "by far"? What are you actually suggesting would happen?
  8. Not mentioned is a 99mph FB hits Fry in the face, then the WP and balk. Skubal was visibly shaken and understandably had trouble pulling it back together after that.
  9. I hadn't really thought about this aspect, but ESPN's article noted: Adding the robot umps is likely to cut down on ejections. MLB said 61.5% of ejections among players, managers and coaches last year were related to balls and strikes, as were 60.3% this season through Sunday. The figures include ejections for derogatory comments, throwing equipment while protesting calls and inappropriate conduct. That is a benefit for umpires - people can't complain about calls when they can get them overruled.
  10. Feel free to sell unused tickets to Brewer fans on this site. :)
  11. Please, it's Monasterio. Not Montesario.
  12. They're 7-16 over their last 23 games if I'm counting correctly. Cleveland is on fire, but the Tigers are also giving it away.
  13. Given you only need 3 starters for the NLDS I would be pretty surprised if they went with 12 pitchers. More likely it's 12 in the NLCS.
  14. I mean, Made didn't have any trouble with AA pitching, let's see what he can do... :)
  15. Another potential interesting use case I've been thinking about would be a critical situation where you absolutely need a K. Say the game is close and you have runners and 2-3 and 0 or 1 outs. Obviously the walks are a potential concern, but any reliever is going to be a gamble and he's much more likely to just blow people away and get out of it, especially when he knows it's just a couple batters. Could be a huge weapon, especially in the NLDS where we don't need a 4th starter.
  16. Priester's pitching. We can just all agree this is a W and not play the game, right?
  17. Historically that was true, but I'm not sure it's as valid in the pitch clock era.
  18. I mean yes, that is how math works. The point is it's incredibly unlikely that that actually happens.
  19. No they haven't. Priester tonight, Woodruff tomorrow, Miz Sunday.
  20. The overhead view and the batter's view animation are really neat tools and do a great job of illustrating the point (and reinforcing how incredible it is that someone can hit a major league pitch at all).
