  1. So are we creating a new topic every time some commentator says Brewers should be aggressive?
  2. I'd quibble a bit with calling Henderson a fine back-end option - when he's actually pitched he's been pretty great. The only concern about the actual argument here is Sproat's well-documented struggles in the first inning, and control in general. That's not something you can tolerate in the BP - or at least not someone who's in any leverage situations.
  3. I agree with your first statement, but closer is way down the list for me. Other than a terrible first couple weeks, Megill has been excellent.
  4. Wanna guess when Megill last gave up 2 runs? Actually here's another fun fact: Megill has not given up any runs since he last gave up 2. He has given up 4 runs TOTAL since April 14. 4-2 in the 9th feels as safe as any 2-run lead could.
  5. Who are you and what have you done with Joey Ortiz?
  6. Mitchell for the salami? edit: C'mon Vaughn, please no GIDP.
  7. Not everyone is going to be hot at the same time, but in general today's lineup is legit especially if we have good JoeyO again.
  8. Looking at Scott's game logs, he clearly struggles with pitch count, and will be hard-pressed to get through 5. This inning backs that up.
  9. Well-rested bullpen brought to you by McCullers & Wilson Innings Eaters, LLC
  10. I wonder if it's just likely sellers doing their due diligence in research of buyers' prospects, or if that would typically indicate there are "kicking the tires" conversations going on?
  11. Obviously it's just a strawman, but I'm not convinced Peralta outperforms Gasser over the next few years (and I'm not the hugest Gasser fan). Will he outperform him this year? Maybe, but given how Milwaukee has to operate, I would be hard pressed to trade a serviceable (if inconsistent) starter for a few starts from non-peak Freddy.
  12. Yes, he said it's been a couple months: "Lara is likely to get the bulk of playing time in place of Frelick, who said he’d been dealing with shoulder pain for the last two months. He hoped the All-Star break would help calm things down, but he felt discomfort on a throw from right field in the top of the fourth and didn’t come out to the on-deck circle when his turn came up in the bottom of that inning. “I felt like I couldn’t throw,” Frelick said. “Like a liability out there. That’s why I spoke up. I tried throwing as hard as I could to second and it kind of just dribbled out of my hand. I felt I needed to speak up and not push through it anymore.” "I don’t want to sit here and say I can play through anything or I’m tough or whatnot, but what I hated specifically about [Friday] night and what made me finally speak up is feeling like I would maybe affect the team. That’s the last thing I want. I think you should play through anything you can bear, but [when it] costs the team is when you need to speak up.” https://www.mlb.com/brewers/news/sal-frelick-has-right-shoulder-injury-for-brewers
  13. The problem is they need to clarify with Gary that they meant when he's catching, not batting.
  14. Well right, he's not going to actually retire, he'd announce his intent to retire at the end of the season.
  15. Pretty much exactly 75% of slot.
  16. I'm trying to understand the Houston side of this - I guess you're convinced that Gordon's nothing and you'd rather have a gas station scratch off ticket than someone who's at AAA already? McCullers for $2M is whatever, but I guess maybe they see something in Jadyn.
  17. Yeah, 2M and Fielder is fine for 2 lottery tickets (one with many years of control). If one of them hits - great. If not, whatever. Obviously you can't make decisions based on this, but I agree it sucks that Fielder and Sabathia were excited about being able to play together and now not so much. Maybe we should've included Sabathia in the deal.
  18. This made me chuckle - as if we could just get him on the right side of 11.00 we'd be golden. :) Nice profile, let the pitching lab cook!
