The fact that they're responsible for paying him 20M in 8 years isn't going to affect where they think the best spot in the lineup is. But yes, that is a sign that they think he's for real and doesn't need to be protected/coddled.
Agree, there's nothing so far to indicate that this is anything other than an individual with a gambling addition who happens to work for someone who is insanely wealthy and willing to pay off his gambling debt.
