  1. And apparently Oakland wanted Ruiz so badly they pulled in a third team rather than just take Contreras.
  2. Ok, new goal: Everyone needs to homer before the game is over.
  3. I think it's very possible that Contreras is starting, but I would bet a decent amount of money on Turang being a reserve if he doesn't tail off. Heck, if Yelich stays health and continues to OPS 1.000+ he could be there too.
  4. It's like that Braves series last year where Acuna was out of his mind.
  5. That's not the way to have a discussion on this forum.
  6. ESPN has one up too: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/40120458/mlb-statcast-bat-tracking-data-giancarlo-stanton-luis-arraez
  7. Yes it was: "the relief ace who made their bullpen so formidable the last couple years is on the 60-day injured list right now"
  8. For the griping about offense, Payamps gets the blame here. This team consistently is in it right up til the last AB.
  9. McArthur coming in, how about a repeat of last night?
  10. I can only imagine how much more unenjoyable it would be if they weren't in first place. To the contrary, they've only had a couple really bad losses. They're in first place. Not the best day for Joel.
  11. Which 4-5 players of the 9 player lineup would those be?
  12. Are you arguing that Murphy didn't plan to sit Ortiz but then changed his mind? Maybe we're conflating planning with needing rest. Obviously you're right he doesn't need a day off, But clearly Murphy has a plan and someone hitting a homer the day before isn't typically going to alter that plan.
  13. Speaking more broadly - maybe. I could see someone having a good week/month swaying the process, but strictly speaking, whether you hit a homer the day before is going to have almost zero effect. You're going to plan out off days in a way to ensure your goals for rest and playing time are met across the team, not making it up day by day.
  14. What someone did yesterday is almost never going to play into a lineup decision.
  15. That's a reasonable guess at their rationale, yeah.
  16. It's still going to be mostly Hoskins and Bauers. Black would probably be sitting today regardless. When Yelich is DHing this is a potential lineup regardless of Black being here or not.
  17. Sorry, but that's not going to go over any better.
  18. Generally I think you're never going to get a 2B to throw to first instead of second unless they're right there, but your statement seems to argue against itself. If the chances of a double play are nil, then certainly you get the lead runner. You'd have to very intentionally be aware of runner speed and decide ahead of time you were going to try 1B first, and that's probably too much to keep in your head when you get a grounder and have a split second to decide what to do. I was wondering myself if Turang's arm was to blame, as you can see the difference when Willy relays vs him, but it sounds like it's the balls to Turang that don't get converted, not vice versa.
  19. I think he was referring to the language specifically and the sheer volume of cussing happening in that exchange.
