Some of the conversation about baseball cards (and the fact that kids don't collect for the sake of collecting) got me thinking. My 5 year old has zero interest in collecting cards. None. I tried to get him into the hobby, not so he could collect valuable cards, but because I remember how awesome it felt to pull a Brewer card from a random, off the shelf pack as a kid. It was a huge thrill for me. But, it also taught me the names of players and all the teams. I was fascinated with the logos and studying the pictures. Anyhow, my boy was not interested at all. If he didn't get a Brewer card, he didn't care at all. However, he is totally into the Topps MLB Sticker Book. He loves it. For me, it's fun watching him open packs of stickers and hoping for Brewer. He's also getting into all the teams and starting to know players names. It's a ton of fun. It's about as close as you can get to the "good old days" of collecting for the love of collecting. Not for profit, just for the thrill of completing your collection. The best part is - it's cheap! Packs of stickers are $1 at Target. Anyhow, I just thought I'd share. We have some duplicate stickers. If anyone wants them, let me know and I'll send them out to you.
