  1. This weekend is a huge factor on the Brewers season. If they can take 3 out of 4 from the Cards and push them to 10 back it could possibly influence how the Cards treat their roster at the deadline. If we drop 3 out of 4 we may be tied or worse with the Cubs. Let's hope we have a strong weekend and get on a roll!
  2. I was at the Sounds game last night and I noticed a possible new player/coach. It was a somewhat shorter guy who had a jersey with the number 7 on, but no name on the back. The batboys wear different jerseys (not the same as the players) and it says BB for their number. Well, this number 7 guy was also signing autographs for quite a few fans. As far as the game, he hung out in the bullpen most of the game in catcher gear and helped warm up the pitchers. Who is this guy? Every other person wearing a jersey on the field for Nashville has their name on the back and I haven't found anything. Does anyone know?
  3. I'd take Loretta and I don't think we'd have go give up too much to get him, but it might take a little more to pry him away from a division rival though.
  4. I don't think we make a move...I'd like to, but I just don't see it or what we could reasonably give up for a guy like Dye.
  5. I agree to an extent, but I think the major thing is some fans have been waiting since we drafted Weeks & Co for them to get up to the bigs and contend. It was a long wait.
  6. I agree...but Melvin's comments that there are as good or better players than three we gave up already in AAA. Who does he consider as good as Inman or better? He's our highest rated prospect and we gave him up for a 30 year old struggling rp. It just seems odd that Melvin's view of his value was this low.
  7. Good for Brady! Is this his second organization this year? Or his third?
  8. I know my post was somewhat long, but any thoughts on this? Was there any word the Brewers weren't big on him? Giving up (and I'll be conservative) a top 10 prospect in the minors up in this trade...
  9. I understand days off and such...but why not do this tomorrow on a day game? I didn't expect this tonight and it makes no sense to rest these many guys today and play tomorrow...they would have had more time to rest if they did this tomorrow.
  10. Size doesn't always matter when it comes to pitching. We shouldn't try to justify this trade. If this trade was in the Trade Rumors link it would've been dismissed and got people upset. Now that it has happened we don't have to like and say Trust in Doug. It's ok to not like it and hope it makes sense down the road. Inman is 20 and you really can't say he'll never make it or that stuff because quite frankly he's done pretty well.
  11. I wouldn't compare any of this to 9/11...that's just in a different league. I don't mind Joe Morgan too much as long as he's just a color guy and I'll ignore some stuff. I like Jon Miller just for his sound. I do dislike Bill Scroeder a bit just because I'd like a guy like Larry McCarren in the booth. Joe Buck just drives me nuts because I think he's too overdramatic at times. Buck and Aikman calling football games is just watching a "home game" for whatever team they like more.
  12. From what I've seen Linebrink has an ERA about 6 on the road and 9 this month...I don't see how this translates well at all. I know he's been really good at home, but where does Turnbow go? It seems like we filled a position we were somewhat ok/strong with and gave up a big Brewers prospect?
  13. This can be locked or moved where needed...but talking to a few buddies that follow the Brewers closely we were all wondering why the Brewers didn't like Inman as much. Melvin has said in a radio interview that the Brewers have as good or better prospects in the minors. Was there any signs of this before the trade? We were in the opinion that he was thought highly of...My big point is even if the Brewers think Inman will hit the wall, not do well, etc...were there that many others in the league that thought this? I just thought we could get more for Inman (even straight up) than what we got. The guy we got will help out, but I think this ultimately looks like at a rental to get picks trade. It just scares me that we gave up a guy that has been doing well and he's only 20. We can get these picks, but we all know it's kind of a guessing game with baseball drafts. If I remember right, that draft we took Rogers and Inman high...now we are without both for at least awhile. I think this has to be looked at as a propects for a rental and future picks trade. I just hope they draft well.
  14. When has he been a cry baby? I'm not denying he has, but I guess I've never heard any of this before, which makes this more interesting.
  15. I really don't think moving Braun to clean up would really create that much more offense...he pretty much has been our offense since the break. One very big concern I have is that it seems when a guy like Hardy or Hart get hot our offense is tough to stop...when they're both cold we look end of the back on offense and just hope for HRs...anyone else have this feeling? Is this just a growing phase for young guys or do we need to get a veteran who can be solid down the stretch and maybe rest some of these young guys?
  16. LIke some have said already...he's hurt for 2 weeks? Why is he hitting even at that time in the game where it was known a double play would ruin our chances...that's just awful on Yost's part. So Johnny MUST be playing for his great defense and the fact that he has so many extra base hits he doesn't have to run...wait that's not him! Call up Rivera put Estrada on the DL...Weeks gets "benched" for production and Estrada isn't producing and is "hurting", but still plays...seems strange.
  17. Moves will have to be made regarding the pitching...but you can't blame them for Zero runs. The offense needs to get going (see all the 1 run wins after the all-star game). Maybe Hall comes back and is the spark?
  18. I think the sign is funny...I can see why one could say it's offensive...but how about just a big blown up picture of the bonds picture? I remember seeing that on espn earlier...I think they had a Giants idol? I think Rob Schneider was there to promote Benchwarmers and some guys came up with some pretty funny stuff...
  19. Nice to see Parra strike out 3 in 1 1/3 innings of work...even though it was mop up duty. Hopefully we get to see him more this weekend - while we're the ones on top. Congrats Manny!
  20. I'd take Weathers realistically due to what I've read online the Rangers (for Otsuka) are asking a ton for him since they pretty much gave up two all-stars to get him...
  21. Braun Fielder Yo Hardy Hart
  22. That's too bad...even though it helps us out I guess, I'd rather not have injuries factor in it, but it's part of the game.
  23. I think he's a bit tired since he hasn't played a full season in a few years and he needs to adapt to the way pitchers are pitching to him.
  24. I understand Manny and Yo's usage will be limited, but for the long run what are we going to do if we can't use them? Yo is going to get more innings than the Brewers wanted due to Sheets injury and Manny hasn't pitched since July 6th? I know they have their limits and that makes sense...but it's been 2 weeks since he's been in a game. If he's going to be that limited he should not be on the Brewers now (especially due to his arm history related to his limited innings).
