  1. Trenni wasn't a sideline reporter who just did a little research to come up with some questions. ("So Singletary, I heard Bill Walsh called you...") Trenni had a very legitimate sports knowledge. I don't care what she looked like - she had game. (Plus, she was about 10 times better than Bill Johnson on the D-List)
  2. You have all been spoiled. For a smaller market like Milwaukee - Brian Anderson is fantastic. However, I doubt this contract means much of anything. I would imagine if a much better offer comes (National coverage) he is still able to opt out.
  3. I don't think Torres poor September cost his the job. If he is on the roster - I bet he is the closer. I hate the idea of spending a ton on a FA. Unless you are the Yankees/Red Sox etc, that just doesn't work economically. Villanueva certainly has the mentality to handle the position. Stetter actually has shown quite a bit to me as well. (He walks batters - but you just can't hit him) Luis Pena sure has dropped out of the conversation hasn't he? Haudricourt said Jeffress might end up pitching out of the pen this year for the MLB team on the D-List the other day. Me, I'm just going to sit here and do nothing - It will all just randomly work out!
  4. Sheets' opening day start on 4/2/07 was just on FSN Brewers Classic. The treatment of Sheets by Brewer fans has been almost criminal. He has been a fantastic pitcher for many years. Even with injuries, he has been something special to watch. I hope he moves on and has a healthy and great finish to his career. Milwaukee got behind a hired gun like Sabathia - but could never fully accept our own in Sheets. He deserved better.
  5. Well, you can always hope that Maddux can turn Willis around...
  6. I posted that a few days ago in one of the Prince rumor threads. I, too, found it very interesting. Very. Gallardo on the cover was also very prominent.
  7. Arizona. Max Scherzer would like might fine in Brewer Blue.
  8. Jon Heyman thinks the Astros for 2 years and 28 million. I would think at those numbers - the Brewers would have to pursue him. One healthy season of Sheets is worth 20 million in today's market. Unless of course, Heyman knows/heard that Sheets' injury is more serious than I thought...
  9. I am not sure where to put this - so I will just throw it in one of the "Trade Prince" threads... I found it very interesting that my season ticket renewal package had Yovani Gallardo on the cover, J.J. Hardy on the inside, and Ryan Braun on the inside flap several times. There wasn't a picture of Prince anywhere. I'd say it is safe to say the Brewers no longer consider Prince to be the face of the franchise and the Brewers are shopping him. (I was really surprised that Yovani had such a prominent position)
  10. It might be an interesting read - nay, it would be an interesting read - but the fan's perspective is tied to wins and losses. Winning managers would always rate higher than losing managers. While in fact, a poor manager might cause a team to win 95 games (instead of 100) - while a great manager might cause a team to win 75 games (instead of 60).
  11. Maybe I am the only one - but I feel as though some topics need to run their course, and let a new thread open up. It is completely impractical to read the entire "Macha" thread as it is 731 replies. I think a new development deserves it's own post. (As opposed to "reply 667ish") I realize no way is ideal - but I can't even look at the major league page anymore because all of the topics are sooo long that I feel as though I cannot participate in the conversation without reading the entire post. Anyways - just my two cents.
  12. Is it hidden somewhere in this thread and I missed it? With Ken Macha about to be named the Brewers' manager over Bob Brenly and Willie Randolph, there are signs that Brewers pitching coach Mike Maddux is headed to the Rangers. The Rangers recently were denied permission to talk to Maddux, but his contract runs out tomorrow. New York Post
  13. Kazmir and Parra are just to similar for me.
  14. Play sheepshead at a local assisted living home. Coach a youth basketball team. I'd highly recommend either.
  15. The bloom is significantly off of Cano, Cabrera and Hughes. I think the Yankees would pull the trigger on that trade. I would not be happy. Hughes is starting to look like all hype - and his Arizona Winter League production matches. Cano was bad this past season. And Cabrera is just a guy.
  16. Man, reading about conspiracies you don't believe it is just funny. When you choose not to believe, you realize how crazy the premise's can be. That said, about 10 years ago I swear I saw jaguar in Dodge County. I just sat for 5 minutes and watched a huge black cat walk across a hay field behind our house. (About 300 yards away) I don't believe I actually saw a Jaguar - because my instincts tell me that is impossible. But I sure wish I knew what I was watching!
  17. For awesomeness - The Dude works just fine for me. For lack of a better description "Guy I Get Why My Wife Thinks is Hot" - Jared Leto (Though I hear Leto is a jerk)
  18. I've met several individuals that had the same problem. Individuals with four years of college and then an MBA with no experience often have the hardest time finding a job. (Though, I am sympathetic to a finance major graduating at this time.)
  19. Get a job. If you get an MBA right away without any real experience you risk being over educated for the entry level job you will still eventually require. I wouldn't go for an MBA until your employer suggests it - or you've reached a ceiling that requires more education. I considered going back for my MBA at UWM, but instead went for my MS-Accounting. (Master of Science - Accounting) because it was a more focused program and would lead to my CPA certification. MBA's are really expensive. I wouldn't consider it unless you know exactly what you are getting it for. (A specific goal that requires an MBA) At least in the field of accounting, UWM has some great professors. (They have some who write the national textbook used by most schools)
  20. Wow. I thought that JSOnline.com was an absolute embarrassment to an otherwise respectable newspaper. It looked (and navigated) like something from 1998. I think the new design is a significant improvement. Not great yet - but much better. It is amazing how poorly newspapers translate to the Internet.
  21. Just an update on LaPorta... In 60 at bats with Cleveland in the minor leagues he struggled and put up a .649 OPS in AA. In 43 at bats in Venezuela Winter League he has struggled and put up a .679 OPS. In both places, he has been striking out almost 1/3 of the time. Not saying he won't be good, but he is certainly going through some growing pains right now.
  22. Worst. Winter. League. Ever. Barely any Brewers are playing. Salome, Jeffress & Green are dealing with injuries. Gamel didn't even get to go. Ugh!
  23. Given the system in place, it should be a few years before we really notice the effects of losing Jack Z. (Good news - I never have to learn how to spell his last name!)
  24. I am obviously a big Gamel backer - but I doubt Gamel has any chance of starting the season as the 3B. He really needed to play in the Arizona Winter League. His injury alone will set back his development. (Defensively at least) I would say the bigger problem is that if the Brewers believe Gamel can play 3B, what to do with Escobar and Hardy. You can't ask someone to move twice.
  25. And my point was that a Blalock/Hall platoon doesn't give much more than a Branyan/Hall platoon. And Branyan/Hall would be cheaper - and not cost a prospect.
