  1. Exactly and to add to that, why are we striving for the playoffs every few years and "competitiveness" the rest of the time? Why can't we try to sustain playoffs or at least playoff contention consistently? Why does it always have to be one year going all in followed by three of mediocre baseball?
  2. From the game thread I blame AZBrewCrew
  3. Bunty McContactPlay (Not really my vote is for Melvin)
  4. Channel 4 news would be a great parody for SNL. With Dirty Dining, Speedbusters and Mugshot of the Day they have plenty of material to work with.
  5. The immortal Szymon Szewczyk, a 2003 2nd round pick who has stayed overseas. Got Ridnour and the Lakers 2014 2nd.
  6. Jungmann with 6 walks in 2 innings so far tonight. Wow are he and Bradley disappointing.
  7. Rovell is awful, the absolute worst of internet trolls that ESPN employs and that's saying something.
  8. Apparently it's okay to talk about it because the Biogenesis stuff is out in the open either from the New Times or ESPN. It's all just one huge joke. Turd throwing chimps could've handled this better than ESPN and MLB.
  9. I think the general consensus is that the leak came from someone Braun consulted and not from MLB. What is the basis for that, again? (Honestly asking) I find it almost inconceivable that his legal team would let that leak. People he and his legal team consulted leaked the information, not his legal team. For example, say he consulted Bosch for information, the leak would have come from someone like him.
  10. No. Many teams actually prefer early 2nd round picks to 1st round picks. Talent level between the players are basically the same but contracts aren't guaranteed in most cases. In any case, you can usually buy late 1st round picks without having to give up any other picks. The Bucks just never do that because they're stupid.
  11. In almost all cases I'd rather lose 106 games than be .500. Unless the division is really bad or the division winners are strong and the potential wildcard teams are weak you're most likely not getting into the playoffs with a .500 record. At least with 106 losses you're at worst picking in the top 5 and more than likely picking in the top 2. Yes prospects in baseball are more likely to flame out and don't help for a couple of years but I'd much rather have the chance to add one of the elite prospects in the draft along with getting one of the highest bonus pools both for the draft and internationally to help add potential star players to your MLB roster on the cheap for several years.
  12. Exactly. What about all the players that went to arbitration and denied it but the arbitrator sided with MLB. They were technically "lying" trying to get off but they only got 50 game suspensions, not 100 for doing it and lying about it.
  13. Two total votes on the twitter poll tonight yet Delabar somehow got 5% of the vote, Robertson got 17%, Uehara got 23%, Scheppers got 9% and Benoit got 46%.
  14. I'm seeing it listed on 7/10 at noon right before the pregame for the Reds/Brewers game.
  15. BA released their updated top 50 today. Cardinals have #2, #12, #24 and #47 Pirates have #11, #13 and #39 (Cole no longer on the list) Reds have #27 and #36 Cubs have #10, #16 and #18 Predictably the Brewers have none. http://ht.ly/mKPHj
  16. Saw this. Was actually in depth inside the draft room without a lot of fluff you normally see in these types of shows.
  17. Hellweg is just as likely to become a reliever as Thornburg is. How dense are you? This really isn't that hard. 1. Hellweg goes down to Nashville and continues to start. 2. Thornburg, who is in the bullpen takes the starting spot that was occupied by Hellweg. 3. A reliever (Jesus Sanchez for example) is called up to take Hellweg's spot on the roster and Thornburg's spot in the bullpen. Really not that difficult.
  18. @FakeJohnHammond
  19. Give Hammond a chance they said. He has a plan they said. Wait until he had cap space they said.
  20. Please, the Brewers haven't decided anything with Thornburg. If Thornburg is going to be the default starter anyways after Hellweg goes 2 innings, why not just make him start the game instead of coming in down by 6 runs? Let Hellweg continue to start in the minors and bring up a reliever.
  21. It has nothing to do with the Brewers. This is the Marlins, they once again took a weak return to shed his salary.
  22. I said it already in the game thread. Send down Hellweg, Thornburg takes his spot in the rotation and call up a reliever to take Thornburg's place in the bullpen.
