  1. The only conference I could buy Wisconsin not being in the top 5 is the Big East and I'm not even sure about that. Big East standings: 1. Villanova (20-1, 9-0) 2. Syracuse (21-1, 9-1) 3. West Virginia (18-3, 7-2) 4. Georgetown (16-5, 6-4) 5. Pittsburgh (16-6, 6-4) After that it's Louisville, who I think Wisconsin is clearly better than. Then Cincinnati, South Florida, Marquette, Notre Dame, Providence, Connecticut, Seton Hall, St. John's, Rutgers and DePaul. Wisconsin is easily top 6 in the Big East and I think they could be as high as third. ACC standings: 1. Duke (17-4, 5-2) 2. Virginia (14-6, 5-2) 3. Maryland (14-6, 4-2) 4. Wake Forest (15-5, 5-3 5. Florida State and Georgia Tech (16-5, 4-3) The Badgers have already beaten Duke at home and Maryland on a neutral court. They're easily top 5 in the ACC. Big 12 standings: 1. Kansas (21-1, 7-0) 2. Texas (19-3, 5-2) 3. Kansas State (18-4, 5-3) 4. Texas A&M (16-6, 5-3) 5. Baylor (17-4, 5-3) There's a pretty big drop off after Kansas State. Wisconsin is probably on a Kansas State level.
  2. Yeah, actually you do. Since it's pretty obvious to you, the list shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes to put together. Unless you don't actually believe that Wisconsin wouldn't finish in the top 5 in the Big East, ACC or Big 12.
  3. I would agree that it was probably best to trade Hardy last offseason, because there wasn't a particularly good option either way. Hardy has a good year, but is now only one year away from free agency. That's going to hurt his value and is likely going to have teams trying to low ball the Brewers by not wanting to give up a lot for possibly only one year. Hardy has a bad year, doesn't get sent to the minors and still only has a year until he's a free agent hurting his value. Hardy has a bad year, gets sent to the minors and has to be dealt for less than his true value. None of those three options are good.
  4. Guillermo Mota to the Giants on a minor league deal.

  6. One bad year out of two. 50%. Now we're at two bad years out of three.
  7. Seth McClung to the Marlins on a minor league deal.
  8. Seth McClung to the Marlins on a minor league deal.
  9. Who wouldn't love to see a 1 vs 24 seed matchup?
  10. Didn't they have him at an .800ish OPS last year too? He's been below average and easily replaceable the past two years. When he's trying to get every penny possible when he doesn't deserve it based on performance, it's going to anger fans. When they see him lazily jog after flyballs, it's going to be worse.
  11. His agent is dumb. The only thing they have to stand on to demand a raise is his .900ish OPS season three years ago compared to his .760ish OPS the past two seasons. There's no way he gets a $1.5M raise after the season he had last year.
  12. Ash. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Just listening to it, it sounds like they're going to have Macha make the roster decisions and they don't know who he's going to take. That's the way it sounded to me.
  13. Just saw the final score on ESPNU bottom line. A 5-2 Bucky win! Edit: Just looking at the box score now. It's really amazing to look at. Even though Duluth had two more power plays, the Badgers outshot them 52-19 including holding them to only five shots in the third period. The Badgers scored two goals and took 20 shots in the third period for a comparison.
  14. Okay, Gord Ash just did an interview during the first intermission of the Admirals game. A few notes. He said Edmonds is likely to be a pinch hitter and get some time at first base as well. Didn't even talk about how he had to win a job. Sounds like if he's even decent, he'll have the job. They like Gomez for his defense and they're trying to get away from "relying on the homer." Asked about third base. Mentioned McGehee, Gamel and Counsell. Said you'd obviously like a young guy like Gamel to either get the job in the majors or send him back to the minors. Doesn't know if that will happen. Pretty disappointing to hear that.
  15. Err, if that's true, I don't really like it. Especially with Wolf, Gallardo and Bush being flyball pitchers. An outfield defense of Braun/Edmonds/Hart would make me cry. http://brewersbeat.mlblogs.com/archives/2010/01/edmonds_appears_on_st_louis_ra.html
  16. Eh. He had a .257 BABIP last year compared to .294 for his career. I don't think you can expect a 5 something ERA because of that. He pitched in Minute Maid Park for half a season and did fine. His career ERA at Wrigley Field is the same as it is at Dodger Stadium. His career ERA at Great American Ballpark is 3.81. It's 3.64 at Petco. His career ERA away from Dodger Stadium and Petco is 4.18.
  17. I guess I don't know where the "he's done" thing comes from. He was fine in 2008 as a 38 year old. He didn't like the offers he got last offseason so he took the year off and now he wants to play again. I doubt he's fallen so far that he's not at least a decent bench bat.
  18. The only way I could see an Admirals game working at Miller Park is if they played the Wolves. They have a strong following in Chicago and it's close, so lots of their fans would probably come up.
  19. I'm totally fine with this deal unless Macha plays Edmonds in CF.
  20. Let's not forget Parra had shoulder surgery after the season. Who knows how long he was pitching with that and who knows why he was pitching through something that needed surgery.
  21. Link doesn't work and since it's Bleacher Report, it's not true. It's just a bunch of 13 year olds writing "articles." That's where the Greinke to the Brewers "rumor" came from.
  22. He was hitting .268/.335/.433/.768 before the DL and he finished the year hitting .260/.335/.418/.753. I think it's very unlikely that he finishes the season with an OPS over .800 if he isn't on the DL. What are the chances you add 32 points to your OBP and/or SLG% that late in the season? Well, Hart was hours away from going to a hearing before he signed last year and this year and this year Gord Ash says "It seems we say this every year, but this time there's something to it. It's looking more and more like that one's going to a hearing." Was that ever said about any other arbitration eligible player by the assistant GM? Maybe there would be something to what you're saying if this was the first time it's happened. But this is 2 for 2 for Hart.
  23. The Sweet 16 and Elite 8 take place in really late March (27th-29th last year). That's right before baseball season starts and putting a basketball court and a bunch of additional seating in the field would destroy it.
  24. I can vouch for Menace. The statute of limitations runs out. Many times a debt collector will call demanding that you pay or they'll sue right before the statute of limitations goes into effect. All you have to do at that point is deny you owe the debt, tell them the statute of limitations has run and to not contact you again. If they continue, all you have to do is send a certified letter with a return receipt requested telling them not to contact you again. However, if you agree that you have the debt, agree to pay the debt or send them money, the statute of limitations can start over giving them the right to sue. I believe the statute of limitations is six years in Wisconsin for open accounts and written contracts.
  25. That's surprising that it's likely going to a hearing since the figures exchanged were only $650,000 apart. Whatever, he can go to a hearing if he wants. I don't think he wins.
