NL Player of the Month - Ryan Braun; NL Pitcher of the Month - CC Sabathia

Apologies if this is already somewhere else, didn't see it on the first page and I think the news just came out today. Pretty nice to see two Brewers honored like this in the same month.

I was not surprised at all about Sabathia. Braun was another story. He had a good month but "player of the month worthy?" He was in the top 5 but not sure about the winner.

Braun's currently leading the bigs in XBH and Total Bases (by a fairly large margin, he has 259 as of yesterday, 2nd has 243).

The mlb.com story about it shows Braun to be deserving. A couple other guys had really good months as well, Ryan Howard, LaRoche, Holliday and Dunn stood out, but Braun had an OPS 1.163, 9 HR (with missing a couple games b/c of the All-Star game) and batted .366. That is one heck of a month.

I guess I worded that wrong. I meant that I didn't think he was a "runaway" winner for the award as I knew others had great months also. Sorry for the confusion.

Hardy was right there with Braun last month. 1030 OPS with 9 HRs and 21 RBIs vs 1163 OPS with 9 HRs and 23 RBIs. Only difference is that Hardy had a few more ABs.
