Bad 0-2 pitch by Ben. Kendall wanting it up and he left it down and out.

Geez, Pujols crushed that. Luckily it was foul.

Sheets gets ahead of Pujols 0-2 and then throws 4 balls not even close to the strike zone. That's vintage Suppan.

That 2-2 pitch was perfect. Should've been a strike. Same thing with the 0-2 pitch to Ankiel. Wolf's strike zone is tiny.

After 1 inning my prediction is that this game will alternate between being extremely frustrating and extremely exciting, for both fan bases. How it ends is anyone's guess.

Well, they let him off the hook. Got a feeling it's going to be a long night now. Anyone want to bet Wellemeyer now settles in??

You think anybody on a Cardinals board is now writing, "Well, they let him off the hook. Got a feeling it's going to be a long night now. Anyone want to bet Sheets now settles in??"

Is it just me or was the ump calling strikes on the Brewers that were balls in the Cards have. Let's hope he's more constitent the rest of the way.

In fairness to counsell he did make the pitcher throw 8-9 pitches in his out. That is an underated part of guys like Counsell and Kendalls, guys like Hart and Braun are hackers who will make quick outs, you need some guys to offset them to get to the opponents bullpen.

Well I guess we know where that hit-and-run with the pitcher play comes from. Nice to see it backfire on the Cards in this game, rather than the other way around.

Yes, but, there is a world of difference between Ben Sheets and Tod Wellemeyer. You expect Sheets to settle in, that's what aces do. Tod Wellemeyer you expect to tattoo.

Does anyone besides me think Sheet's curveball looks weird. It looks a lot more like a slider than his normal 12-6 curveball. There was one other start (maybe the Cubs game) where I say this, but haven't noticed it since.

2-0 count so why not swing at a ball low and inside and ground out weakly to third ensuring the run doesn't score!

I dug that at bat by Prince. He purposely tried and succeeded at pulling a ball on the outside corner because that's the only way he scores the run with a hit along the ground. His power #'s may be a bit down but his situational hitting this season has been excellent.

What a weird bounce.

Yep. One weird bounce basically produces a run. Otherwise JJ is probably left standing at second. Perfect example of how all the numbers in baseball still can't really explain it on a micro-level.

Yeah honestly maybe it's the same for all teams but I just notice it with the Brewers more but they seem to really stink up golden oppotunities alot. Thank god Fielder got him in. Sheets is looking very shakey again tonight. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
