I hope Philly takes it all

Not only for the "we lost to the eventual WS winners" thing, but also for the Lopes and Jenkins connections. I always liked Lopes, and I'd really like to see Jenks get a ring for all the years he played for some really bad Brewers teams.

Jenkins I'm happy for. Lopes, not so much. The fact that right after he was hired he asked Taylor not to trade Grissom, then had him bat leadoff soured me on him right from the get go. He was Dusty Baker-lite.

Rays vs. Dodgers series is ideal - with the Dodgers taking it in seven on a Manny Ramirez homer...

Sigh.

Might as well ask for what you want, eh?

Forget the Phillies. They pretty much thumped us this year. I hope they go down in flames in LA LA land.

Any reason I had to root for Philly went out the window when I saw Brett Myers mock the Brewers' untuck 'em routine while the Phillies celebrated today.

I won't root against them, but I've been rooting for the Dodgers all season. I really like their makeup.

Brett Myers is really a bit of a jerk. There was also that wife beating incident. I like him when he's pitching well and because he shows a lot of emotion, but my friends and I all refer to him as "The Idiot Pitcher" at all times.

I hope they take the whole thing, too. I can't really complain about either of the teams in the NLCS, but I'd prefer to see a World Series in a cold-weather city. Plus, it's about time for Philadelphia to win a title.

My ideal World Series is Rays vs. Phillies, although I have qualms about the pit known as Tropicana Field hosting a World Series game.

I hope no "Sox" team is in it -- Red or White -- and I had been hoping that if the Brewers didn't get to the Series, the Cubs would and would win it. I really don't like them, but it would've been nice to get the eternal drought/curse talk over with, just as the recent championships of both Sox teams did the same (see: Curse of the Bambino & aftermath of the Black Sox scandal).

I'm not crazy about LA teams even though they're not as over-hyped as the NY teams, and also the Angels are solid and generally non-controversial. Philly wouldn't be all bad, and losing to the eventual champs at least puts the team you lost to in a different context.

But I have to go with my own Florida roots and long-time Tampa-resident brother's favorite team: Go Rays!

Rays are a good story, but I'm annoyed by the fact that suddenly - after an entire existence of futility - they're an insta-contender. Just jealous of that.

I like the Dodgers going far just because I love how the Yankees brass must be taking it. They don't make the playoffs, while Joe Torre goes all the way.

The Dodgers are going to crush the phillies and I will be very happy to see that. The Philadelphia are jerks much like New York fans and they werent exactly friendly to me when I was there in September or game 2. I really hope they lose and I am pretty sure they will.

After what I experienced at games one and two, there's no way I could possibly cheer for Philly. Many people have noted that the Brewers needed to earn the respect of Philly, but honestly, I'm not sure that if we'd won the series they'd have given it. Philly fans don't even give respect to their own players. They do not know compassion or how to root for the underdog. They have space in their heart for only one team and they do not know how to lose...or win with class and humility. I hope the Dodgers whoop them and then meet the Rays in the Series.

There's a distinction between not respecting your own players and not giving your players a free pass when they stink.

We expect nothing less than 100% effort, and it always baffles me when other teams fans talk about the need to support their team no matter what. It's wrong to not cheer for your team if they just can't get it done, but it's wrong TO cheer for them if they don't WANT to get it done. Between owners that don't want to spend the money to win (Phillies, all the time) and players who are prima donnas (Eric Lindros, J.D. Drew, etc.) we are well acquainted with the sort of player we don't actually want in Philly. I do think that a lot of players who don't deserve a hard time get a hard time just because we're used to giving players a hard time (poor Donovan McNabb!), but there are other players who absolutely deserve a hard time (I'm talking to you, Jimmy "can't be bothered to run out a pop-up" and "Phillies fans are front runners" Rollins!).

Came back with the magic editing stick to highlight one statement that is VERY MUCH not true about Philadelphia. This is a blue collar town and we are all about the underdog. But no, we're not going to root for the underdog when the underdog is playing us!!!

Anyway, this is a bit of a thread-jacking now, so I'll leave it at that.

Congratulations to the Phillies. They outplayed the Brewers and were the better team. Brewers had a wonderful season but there weaknesses were revealed in September; a very good but seriously flawed team.

I'd like to see a Philly/Tampa Bay World Series. Philly is a lot like us, except their offense hasn't been in a funk for over a month, and it would be nice to see Jenkins make it that far. I'm still pulling for the Rays to win it all, though.

Can we please issue a ban to MNBrew for uttering this statement?

Hoping the cubs win the world series? That's disgusting.

Philly's offense was only in less of a funk than the Brewers in the recent series. Maybe it was great pitching by the Brewers and Phillies but neither offense looked good at all.

...might as well come on here and claim the Brewers should be moved or contracted with a "hope the Cubs win it" statement.

I want to see Philly win it. I would love for Geoff to finally get a ring, and I'm not a fan of LA, Boston, or White Sox. Like someone else said, I'm a little jealous of TB, and I'm indifferent towards LAAoAiCAbtM.

The poster previously known as Robin19, now @RFCoder

EA Sports...It's in the game...until we arbitrarily decide to shut off the server.

Why would anyone be jealous of Tampa? I think IT's DANG AWESOME! Choker Lou couldn't win with the mighty Mariners and not with the unstoppable Cubs after leaving Tampa. I'm waiting for a legitimate story from ESPN on some coverage on that alone.

To be honest, I don't have much interest in the remaining teams. All the teams I enjoy following have been eliminated. Cubs v. Angels would have been a fantastic world series.

i think it would be sweet to see the rays come from the worst team in baseball to champions in 1 year. that being said a dodgers - red sox series would make for incredible story lines.
