Hopefully Rickie being out of the lineup is just a cautionary thing, but wouldn't be surprised if he missed more than tonight. I was hoping to see some reporting by Haudricourt on it today, but all we get is "well he must be hurting" in his lineup post on JSOnline today. Counsell at the top of the lineup makes me gag a little, but I guess it's better than Kendall leading off.

Hopefully Arroyo misplaces a few pitches early and Parra can avoid nibbling too much again tonight.

Not surprised that Weeks is out. It is obviously a small sample but so far this year the Reds have a .596 OPS against LH pitchers. We haven't had an easy win yet, tonight would be a good night for it. Tomorrow would be good too since I'll be at the game!

I'm guessing Weeks would be in the lineup if he hadn't got hit last night, but he's really struggled against Arroyo iirc so maybe Macha would have sat him regardless.
Weeks batting avg vs Arroyo: .050

Counsell batting avg vs Arroyo: .368

crewcrazy why the hate for a replacement player who happens to get on a lot? Maybe the big guys can knock him in. Nice stat Gorman plus Counsell can work the count!

I know it hasn't really been the offense that has cost any wins this year, but it is interesting that the ones letting us down offensively so far, aren't:

-0 for September Corey Hart

-perennial underachiever Rickie Weeks

-can't hit righties Bill Hall, or

-strikeout king Mike Cameron

it's our 3-4-5 hitters!

I have a crazy idea. How about our pitchers get ahead in the count? That way, they'd walk fewer batters and have to serve up fewer meatballs! I know this might be revolutionary, but it just might work.

Was Cinci shading Hart up the middle or did he just not hit that ball hard enough to get through?
I'm not watching the game, but I would assume they were at double play depth, which is shaded up the middle.

Haha...we're getting crowd reactions on the mic tonight. I just heard "Come on, make a pitch...it's da pitcher up there!"

Nice job by Manny working back to get that strikeout and strand the runner, though. Now let's wake up the bats.

The fans in the park are (understandably) pretty impatient with with walks or even too many balls being thrown tonight.

If Kendall & Parra can make contact it could be the first time this year we go through the line up without a K. Things are looking up.

Nice stat from Thom Brennamen. Willy Taveras attempts to steal 54% of the time he reaches base. Major league average of attempts to steal a base when getting on base is 8%. Wow
