Gamel situation

Does batting Gamel leadoff & letting him play 3B sound strange to anyone? It just seems to make so much sense to me.

I suggested exactly that on another board today.

has Macha spoken at all on why Mat isn't getting any PT?

Hardy has been a bust just as much as Hall this season.

Lets see Gamel and Casey both in the Lineup before the Break

Hardy has been as big of bust as Hall if you take into account the expectations for both coming into the year, but Hardy is still having a much better year than Hall (that shows how bad Hall has been if some one playing as poorly as JJ is much better.) Hardy's OPS is .80 higher than Hall's and in 100 more at bats has struck out less than Hall.

That said JJ is having a terrible start to the year and needs a couple days off right now. Counsell can play short and put Gamel at 3B it is pretty simple to do.

Michael Hunt thinks the Brewers should trade Gamel if they can get Vasquez or a similarly good pitcher for him.

So if you're asking if the Brewers should trade Mat Gamel against the possibility that he would be the first baseman in the event of Prince Fielder's 2012 departure, the answer is yes, especially if Javier Vazquez were available. As the Sabathia blockbuster demonstrated, the future is always now for a franchise like the Brewers.

He's clearly overrating Vazquez who's a nice pitcher but not a top of the line guy and in no way would make the Brewers close to a playoff lock. No way I give up Gamel or Escobar for any pitcher out there not named Halladay.

As this conversation seems to be rehashing a lot of the same stuff, I'm closing the topic. If you wish to discuss the Hunt proposal, it'd be good material for the Transactions forum.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.
