Kid friendly restaurants in Milwaukee

My girlfriend and I are watching her 2nd grade brother, and plan on taking him out to eat, as he doesn't get to do that much...but whats a good place with a good menu that will have an environment he'll enjoy? We figure Applebee's is a safe bet, but we don't really like eating at chains.

Any tips? Thanks!

It's a chain, but BW3 is great for kids. Maybe not the one downtown on Water Street, but there are plenty of things to look at with plenty of tasty things on the menu (they have pretty good burgers if he doesn't like chicken) that kids love.

I haven't met a kid that doesn't like pizza, and I haven't been to a pizza place that isn't kid-friendly, so the possibilities there are endless. Marty's in Brookfield on Bluemound Road is particularly kid/family friendly.

Good luck!

Marty's is delicious. I haven't been to the one in Brookfield, but the one in Delafield is more of a sit down, quiet type of place. If he gets bored easily, that might not be the place to go. It's sort of expensive too, but it's worth it. Don't know about the price you're willing to spend or if he gets bored easily, but if money isn't an issue and he'll be fine sitting for up to an hour waiting, then I would go with Marty's.

Try StoneFire Pizza Company. Link It's buffet and has a lot of games and stuff like Chuck E Cheese. A little more upscale though. When I was there they were showing a Disney Movie in one of the rooms. They also have a room where they show the baseball game I believe. 5320 S. Moorland Rd. New Berlin, WI

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

trwi7, your comments are interesting, as I've been to the Marty's in Delafield twice I think, and the one in Brookfield about 3-4 times over the last 6-8 years, and I wouldn't call either a quiet, sit-down type of place. Every time I go there the place is buzzing with chatter, kids, etc. I also think the price is pretty reasonable, at least for a pizza place. The one on Bluemound does have a small gameroom, and maybe I'm just distracted by my kids to recognize what a quiet sit-down place is actually like http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif.

Oh, I completely agree that there's talking and everything, but if you have a kid that can't sit still and just talk for an hour and has to get up and run around, then that's probably not the place to go. Now if he has no problem sitting at the table and talking for a while, then that's a great place to take him. I'm just giving a little warning that there's not a ton to do if he gets bored easily (didn't know about the gameroom in Brookfield) so that would probably be an okay place to take him if he gets bored.

Yeah, Organ Piper was I place I went a lot as a kid. I have to admit I'm kinda surprised (& very glad) it's still open. Marty's is a good idea too -- though like trwi, I've only been to the Delafield location.

If the kid is a baseball fan. Fridays at Miller Park is always fun, even if there is not a game going on. Get a window seat, look out over the field and dream.

I'm not sure if I'm more surprised that the Organ Piper is still in business or that Radio Shack is still in business.

Logan stole my thunder, Stonefore would be my first pick. tri is correct, it would be inappropriate for kids to run around the Delafield location.

Thanks for the help guys! We'll see what he is in the mood for, but what kid (and most adults) don't want pizza? That stonefire place sounds pretty good. We'll look into it. If anyone else has any suggestions, please, keep them coming.

If we're talking pizza, a suggestion would be Rock Bottom Brewery downtown. They offer a kids make your own pizza. They bring all the ingredients to the table the kids can make it themselves and then they get to watch as the pizza is put in the oven. Kids love it and it kills a lot of time.

One warning about Stone Fire, if you are looking to do this on the cheap, it can get kind of pricey there especially when you factor in the video games. If you plan on taking the kid to Stone Fire and not allowing him to play video games...well, that's just cruel.

Another idea, if he likes Chinese, might be Benihanas downtown where they make the food right in front of you.
