What's NOT bugging you? (2007 – 2013)

My boy (pictured) last night ran his "career" (10 innings) K/BB ratio to 22/4. He did give up his 5th hit, though, so naturally there was no dessert at dinner.

Marv Marinovich would be proud of you, Jason. Maybe offer your boy a wheat germ and flax seed smoothie after he throws 200 curveballs through a tire. That'll raise him up right.

Seriously, good for him on his performance. Just don't embarass him with uncontrollable weeping and trembling. . .that's not considered to be Cool Dad behavior.

Bought raffle tickets at a fundraiser for ALS. I ended up winning 4 free tickets to the Labor Day Brewers game, 13 rows behind the Brewers dugout. Along with Metavante passes and a preferred parking pass...sweet!

I won my age group at today's Sausage Race 5K. I'd always wanted to win one of these trophies. Now my running career is complete.

Excellent, Jimbo. Though you'd think as an age group winner, you'd get a Bratwurst (#1).

You would think so as well. With five sausages, you would also think they would go five deep vs. three deep with the awards.

Appearantly, it's randomized which meat atops the hardware. If someone wins first every year, it's not always the #1 Brat, which is the case of my teammate.

As of today, the S.O. and I have been a couple for 20 years. Our first date was to County Stadium for this game. We had mezzanine seats.

Since 1989, the Brewers have not had a very good record on August 6. Fortunately, they're off today.

Congrats, hawing!

I love that Claudell Washington was the starting RF for the Angels that game. Funny that I knew every single one of those guys without blinking twice.

Note that Paul Molitor was caught stealing by Bill Schroeder that day. And the Brewers were pwned by Jim Abbott.

Not sure how official this is, but. . . . .

Talked to my D-Backs group sales rep today. Told her "no" to the school field trip thing in September.

She then asks, "well, can we treat you to a game? Are you interested in coming down?"

Of course, I had been planning (and looking on Stubhub) on going to D-Backs-Brewers next month. I gave her the dates we were "planning" on going to games.

Turns out, it looks like (not sure, but sounds promising) that the D-Backs are comping me and my wife the entire Brewers-DBacks series next month. Lower deck, dugout section (that's what she said, at least).

So I'm pretty pumped about that. Don't really care about the seats--if they're free and in the lower deck? *DING! DING! DING! We have a winner!

I'll keep you posted if this is, indeed, the case. The tickets are already, supposedly, in the mail.

edit: spelling and grammar

I go to the casino about once every 3-4 years. This past weekend I took a roadtrip to see a game at the Metrodome since I haven't seen a baseball game there yet.

On the way home, traffic backed up on the Interstate right at Highway 12. I got off there and decided to stop at Ho-Chunk on a whim. I sat down at the first machine that looked good (a nickel slot) and won $53 on the first pull. I calmly cashed out my winnings and left. Total time in the casino: About 90 seconds.

This shirt, which I just got in the mail today from our very own one-man Italian brew crew. Grazie, kalle8!

as an update . . .

We got our D-backs-Brewers tickets in the mail yesterday.

Two games are in behind the D-back dugout on the outfield side, row 22 (but the rows start with row 10). One game is behind the Brewer dugout on the outfield side in row 14.

Each ticket has a face value of $34.00 so I think this is a pretty nice score of six tickets. Pretty happy.

My wife does not agree that we should use the saved money (we were going to splurge on one game in the seats right down by the dugout [i.e. $100+ seats]) and get like a suite in the downtown hotel.

But we'll just go with our regular place of lodging.

I guess it finally paid off to bring groups of 200 school kids down all those years.

In addition to buying a house, I recently found my grandparents' circa 1980 Bang & Olufson turntable/receiver, still in perfect working order. I'm the only person in my family who still listens to records, so I inherited it from my sister's storage closet.

The previous day, I came in to possession of my other grandparents' record storage cabinet, and the B&O turntable happens to fit perfectly on top of it.

Both will fit wonderfully in our new living room.

I'm so glad this is the last Brewer weekday day game on the schedule. The drive home is always brutal on these game days. If it was up to me the Brewers would either play not weekday day games or all those games would start at 3pm.

We ordered a new desktop computer last night - an iMac. Moving on from our trusty but aging 2002 machine is not bugging me.

hawing, that's cool. Our current Dell desktop is about six years old, so I'm probably going to look for a replacement in the next few months. I think I have to stick with PCs due to the various programs I need for work (Excel, Word, etc). I like how slick Macs are, though.

On an unrelated note, the wife and I had a great weekend camping in the Kettle Morraine. What great weather we've had!

Well, not until ours arrives. But soon. Now I'm going through old files to clear out the deadwood...all the less to transfer to the new machine.
