I been going to six flags great America, once a year since I was a kid, What is everyone favorite ride, mine is the Demon and the Eagle, i am still upset they got rid of the tidal wave.

I used to like the Demon as a kid, but i now usually don't even go on it when i attend six flags.

 

My current favorite rides in order are now

 

1. Vertical Velocity-- Love the instant speed

 

2. Raging Bull

 

3. Batman

 

4. Giant Drop

 

5. Viper

 

6. Eagle

 

7. Superman

 

Those are usually the only rides i go on when i attend Great America. I'm glad an amusement park is only a little more than an hour away from Milwaukee because i still love going on roller coasters, but it's disappointing that Great America IMO hasn't added a high quality coaster since they added Vertical Velocity and Raging Bull around ten years ago. I guess Superman is decent and that was added in 2003 or 2004. A lot of big amusement parks though add a new quality roller coaster every year or two, but Great America only added Dark Night in 2008 and that coaster sucks. Ragin Cajun is weak also. There was a very good coaster they built around 2005 that i went on once and it was outstanding, but the thing was usually not running and thus they tore it down maybe two years ago, i forget the name of it though? It was blue and had an odd name i remember.

 

If Great America did a better job of adding more really high quality roller coasters, i'd attend more often than usually once a year with my daughter and a few other people. One of these years i'm going to drive down to Ohio and spend a weekend at Cedar Point. I've seen shows on TV showing all the crazy fun looking coasters at Cedar Point and i get envious, my kid really wants to go also.

I spend a day at Cedar Point every summer. Well worth the drive. Raging Bull would be a very average roller coaster at CP. That said, Raging Bull is probably my favorite at Great America.

I agree with Bucks. Cedar Point is WELL worth the drive. Maverick and top thrill would be my faves. Raging Bull is my favorite at six flags.

So when you go to Cedar Point, are ride lines/wait times excessively long to where it's hard to hit every good ride in a visit?

I'm going on August 30th. I'm taking my 7-year old with me. He's coaster crazy. The only drawback is that he is about 51-52 inches, which eliminates a bunch of rides. My favorite is still Batman: The Ride. I agree with the earlier poster that said Dark Knight was a horrible disappointment. They tried to make it more of an attraction like the Disney parks.

I miss shock wave. Awesome ride when you figure out how to not get your head rattled. I also like raging bull, viper, the eagle, and even iron wolf. I should note that I haven't been there on at least 7/8 years

Ragin' Cajun is a pretty good ride. When I first went on it, it looked like it was going to suck, but it's pretty awesome how it feels like you're going to fly off the track before quickly turning.

Not at all. I've been to Cedar Point twice since the last time I've been to Great America. It is fantastic. Go for 2 days, and you'll hit every ride multiple times.

When I was young, the wizzard was the only coster i would go on, i haven't been on the wizzard in 20 years.

Danzig, I've been going mid-week in late August for the past few years and the crowds have been sparse. I've gotten on the best rides multiple times in a single day.

Shockwave will always be my favorite, I was pretty upset when they tore it down. Raging Bull is probably my current favorite. (But am I the only one who feels like the name totally doesn't fit the ride? It'd make more sense if Viper and Raging Bull switched names!) I was surprised by how much I liked Superman. Dark Night is terrible.

I went last Monday, I always go on a Monday in August during state fair,it is never crowded. I like all ride, one ride that is gone down is where you leann up against the wall and spin and the floor drops, also liek triple play and the hay baylor.

Just checked the schedule, and Six Flags is closed on August 30th. Seems a little strange to me, but I don't know when the Illinois kids go back to school. Good thing I checked, because I could have had a Wally World moment upon arrival.

Shockwave was the best, but you did have to be an experienced rider (to know how to keep your head from rattling around) in order to really enjoy it. Towards the end of the day on weekdays (we had season passes for about 4 years when I was a kid) we wouldn't even have to get out of the cars, they would just let us keep riding because there was no one in line.

 

I haven't been back in nearly 6 years. Did they finally tear down Iron Wolf? I always liked that one as well. The girlfriend and I were just talking about trying to pick up some tickets and heading down there this summer with her niece and nephew, but I'm afraid that too much will have changed for me to enjoy it.
