Is there any national baseball analyst worse than Harold Reynolds? He just blows my mind with his idiocy every day. His latest: he thinks Gibbons' catch was better than Gomez's.

So much for Gomez being that dumb after that HBP http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Nice Jeter acting job

Also, that catch is the reason why he needs to play everyday. Batting 8th, but no excuse for him not to be playing everyday.

Morgan is almost as good defensively and can hit vs RHers

Morgan doesn't make that catch, Morgan is also on the DL.

Marcum = ace
I tried to log in on my iPad. Turns out it was an etch-a-sketch and I don't own an iPad. Also, I'm out of vodka.

Thank god, the MLB Network crew changed at 11:00 (EST). They were just talking for a few seconds about Gomez - the usual stuff that he's a great fielder and runner, but the question about him is whether or not he can hit. Larry Bowa had a great line:

"He could bunt .260."

Was Hart really out? Does the player need to have control of the ball for the force? It was somewhat in his glove but he really didn't catch it until he fell off teh bag. Any one know what if the ruling was correct?

That just means Bowa has never seen Gomez try to bunt

I love Gomez, but man that stinks. Dude should not be batting in the 2 hole. Hart has gotta be better there right?

The only worse hitter who plays everyday is Betancourt (and he's actually significantly worse)

Posted

hilarious game thread so far...here's the summary:

1st 2 pages - "GOMEZ STINKS!!!"

2nd 2 pages - "GOMEZ ROCKS!!!"

5th pages - "GOMEZ STINKS!!!"

If there were a separate game thread for Gomez, Kotsay, and Betancourt comments, the regular game thread wouldn't get past the 1st page.

From mlb rule book, seems to be up to the umpire's judgement to determine "secure possession"

A CATCH is the act of a fielder in getting secure possession in his hand or glove of

a ball in flight and firmly holding it; providing he does not use his cap, protector, pocket or

any other part of his uniform in getting possession... In establishing the validity of the catch, the fielder shall

hold the ball long enough to prove that he has complete control of the ball and that his

release of the ball is voluntary and intentional.

Does it seem to anyone else like the Fox-Trax strike zone is set too low tonight? It seems like every pitch is showing up as several inches above where it actually is. Maybe it's just my perception, but it looks like obviously low pitches are showing up as being in the Foxtrax zone, pitches that look right at the knee are showing up as being in the top of the zone, etc..

It's really weird to think Scully is 83 years old. The guy is sharp as a tack and definitely still has passion for the game.

Ive noticed that it tends to call a lot of pitches strikes...a lot of times it looks like the pitch was mighty low but foxtrax shows it as a strike.
