Since the bottom of the third this has been a clinic on how to pitch to contact by both guys. Not a ton of K's but very few hard hit balls

Does anyone know Wolf's pitch count?

edit- nevermind I see it. 86.

I'm following the new ESPN Gamecast... I've always liked the MLB.com one, but ESPN seems to work smoother with Linux. I think the animations of the base hits are much better, but nothing quite beats the pitching animations of MLB.com.

With the long stretch of consecutive games ahead, it would be nice for Wolf to go the distance tonight and get the bullpen a night off.

So, do you let Wolfie finish this one out? I'm sure Wolf would like the CG, but I'm hoping Roenicke will use either Axford or K-Rod. Or Saito. Or just use each for one batter. Yeah, I love the back end of this bullpen.

I send Wolf back out for the 9th. If Patterson reaches, go get Ax. If he gets Patterson out, let him face Pujols and try and finish it.

Thats about as good as a pitcher can get through 8 only striking out one hitter.

Wolf had the Cards completely off balance after the 2nd inning.

Do you go to AX in the 9th or let him go?

My lord... I know it's been said a million times already, but I flip the channel to check on soccer for literally a minute... come back and we are turning two to end the inning. 92 pitches through 8... have a night Randy Wolf.

So I guess the big question is do you send Wolf out for the ninth with Patterson, Pujols, and Freese due up? Or, I guess, do you let Wolf pitch to Pujols and Freese, since I'm assuming he'll get Patterson.

You know the game isn't going well offensively when the Cards broadcast decided Cruz's single in the 8th was the "Drive of the Game."

So this lefty pitcher is really tough on lefties, but didn't face Fielder in any important situations yesterday. Today, he starts pitching the inning against a righty. TLR, I don't understand you.

If we're PHing for Kottaras, why not just use Lucroy? He's going to have to come in on defense anyway and a much better hitter than Wilson.
Posted
Why would you ph Wilson for Kottaras and not Lucroy when you have to bring Lucroy in anyway. Or just leave Kottaras in if you're bringing Wolf back out? But this option isn't even logical!

agreed gotta let Wolf pitch the 9th

and ummmm what pinch hitting Josh Wilson?

For Kottaras? That must mean Wolf is done?

And he's bunting?? Is Kottaras hurt or something?
