Cherry, Kiwi, lemon or aloe vera flavored bratwurst?

German butchers are coming up with different brat flavors to boost stagnant sales.

Quote:
German butchers have introduced a new line of exotic-tasting sausages with flavors ranging from kiwi, maraschino cherry, lemon and even aloe vera.

Other sausages in Berlin are made of lamb, ginger, parsley, cardamom and edible blossoms.

Also truffle and chili-honey.

Yuck.

My wife's uncle makes some really good oddly flavored brats (he owns a couple grocery stores). That said, I wouldn't want to try an aloe vera brat.

Is there something wrong with brats? I just don't get it. The traditional sausages are fine, and I damn sure want no kiwi in a brat. Or Lavenderhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I think I prefer "bratwurst" flavor.

And I'd eat them much more often if someone could make one that doesn't give me heart disease.

Less fat, butchers!

Agreed...why would I want a brat that tastes like sun-burn? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

actually the best brat i have ever had was the smoked cheddar and onion brats from the Metro Market in downtown Milwaukee. They are insane. I have some good ones like the ones from Karl's Market in Menomonee Falls and from other butchers, but these are unreal.

As for less fat try the gym. It lets you eat what you want and still be in good shape.

Remember that FAT = FLAVOR.

but it cools and softens your esophagus when you swallow.

I tell ya what, I've had some jalapeno flavored brats, and those things are AMAZING! I would much rather have that than a regular brat. But the other flavors? Nope. Give me bratwurst soaked in beer (and if there's a few jalapenos in it, great) any day of the week.

Who eats aloe vera?

I don't know about eating it, but people drink it.

I am pretty sure that this is the major reason for stagnant sales. I can't imagine that people all of sudden decided that they want fruity tasting brats. I imagine once they find a way to cut out calories sales will increase.

I also wonder with the higher gas prices, if less people are driving to the campgrounds to vacation and then buying less brats -- this may be a small dent in the problem.

Maybe its my guitar hero addiction kicking in, but now all I have going through my head is . . .

SWEEEEEEEEEET CHEEEEERRRRRRRY BRAT!

Can anyone recommend a decent butcher in the Milwaukee area? My wife is from Sheboygan and whenever we visit there we stop at Miesfeld's and load up but I would really like to find a decent place closer to home. The grocery stores around us are ok but they just don't seem to have the same quality that you can get from a good butcher.

Flavoring of the brats in this manner has made my heart heavy with grief. The one thing I could depend on in life was the sacrament of the Bratwurst and now, well I just don't know what to do. Perhaps I'll continue to cry. I will not however, be eating any Cherry, Kiwi, Lemon, of Aloe Vera Brats. Why not just crush my knee caps with a bat instead? It'd be less painful.

There is a butcher shop a little west of STL that does flavored brats...but in flavors that people may actually enjoy. They make a mushroom and swiss brat that sounds intriguing, among other savory flavors. Not sure I want any sweet brats.

I love cheese flavored brats.

Yes, cheese brats are great, but that's about as far as I'd go. I don't really want a fruity or flowery brat.

And I may be in the minority, but I also don't like anything on my brats. I love having them plain. Just give me a plain brat that snaps when you bite it, squirting juice into your mouth. Nothing else needed. I'm hungry for a brat now.
