Final Show for Bob Barker

This totally shakes my view of this world to its core...

I think the sea levels and weather patterns are generally held in check due to Bob Barker's skinny microphone being there every weekday morning.

question is, did CBS renew The Price is Right for another season with a new host? I haven't seen anything about that.

Personally, I think they should just let the show die out. It will not and never will be the same with somebody else as the host (look at their "attempts" to make it an evening show from the past). It's Bob Barker baby, let it end that way.

due to Bob Barker's skinny microphone

No kidding. That long skinny mike is a Barker staple. I remember that from when I was a kid.

I watched the prime time tribute episodes last month and got to thinking, boy, there's a lot about the TPIR set that just hasn't changed since the 1970s. Like the price displays on Contestants Row. I remember when those big calculator-style numbers represented cutting edge technology!

It's a bit of a comfort, really.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Wow, I had just assumed that robot technology would have advanced far enough to allow for a seamless transition from the "real" Bob Barker to an android so we would never have to deal with life without The Price is Right.

This is a sad day. Say what you will about his overactive sex drive - Bob Barker is a multi-generational pop culture icon. I wonder what CBS has planned - replace Barker or replace the show completely? And with who/what? I hope it's not Richard Karn. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

If someone were to pitch the concept of "The Price Is Right" to a network exec today, they probably would probably be dismissed before finishing their presentation. The prizes aren't big enough...there isn't enough "drama". The fact that it has lasted this long is a real testament to Bob Barker.

every single time i watch the price is right, it's like a time machine trip back to 1987, sitting on the floor....i love the price is right...

Just a blurb I found online......

Though Barker joked that "all of television is going to end" when he retires, "The Price Is Right" will continue in the fall with a new host, who has yet to be named. Among those reportedly in the running are Todd Newton of the E! network, Mark Steines of "Entertainment Tonight," George Hamilton and John O'Hurley.

J. Peterman? They could just have him describe the products.

"His whole life is a fantasy camp. People should plunk down $2000 to live like him for a week. Sleep, do nothing, fall ass-backwards into money, mooch food off your neighbors and have sex without dating... THAT'S a fantasy camp."

nice find! Again, I didn't read anything or find anything on it. Must have been using the wrong search parameters or something.

Anyway, I doubt the show lasts too long with Bob as the host. Doesn't matter who they'll get, but people will tune it out because it's not the same.

Isn't O'Hurley already doing Family Feud? And if the qualifications for the host of TPIR is to have white hair and a tan, I guess George Hamilton fits the bill.

It's not uncommon for these shows to do multiple tapings in a day. Hosting two shows is not out of the question, unless the contract has a loyalty oath.

Where have ye gone, Peter Tomarken?

As the host of "Press Your Luck" back in the 80s, you were America's last, best hope to carry on the mantle of TV game show host.

Now that Mr. Barker has finally stepped down from his throne, Tomarken probably has the white hair to fill the job.

I used to watch TPIR every day as a kid.

Unfortunately, Tomarken died in a plane crash a few years ago. He was fantastic as the host of Press Your Luck. I completely agree with you--he would have been an excellent choice as a replacement.

I read somewhere today that Rosie O'Donnell is pushing to be host of the show after the Bob. PLEASE don't ruin it in that way.

I heard that on the radio a few weeks back. I hope it does not happen, but I am worried because she left The View before she was scheduled to, so maybe that means something? Man, would that suck if she became the new host.

I just wish they would replay Joker's Wild somewhere. If they have i have not seen it. That and Press Your Luck were my favorites growing up.
