2012-09-16 Mets (Young) at Brewers (Peralta), 1:10 PM CDT [Brewers win, 3-0; Braun hits HRs 200, 201; Peralta 8 IP]

Too bad Segura got picked off,Peralta would have a double and an RBI

I'm just following the game on Gameday, but was Wily attempting to bunt before the pickoff? If I had to guess RRR would have called for the sac bunt

No, he was leaning to far.

Peralta wouldn't have been swinging if not for the pick off.

Outstanding* outing by Peralta

*more appropriate word choice.

Solid outing by Peralta

He faced 3 over the minimum and allowed 0 runs through 8. Little better than 'solid' IMO.

[owbc]

Peralta's start today might have been the best performance of the season by a Brewers starter, considering the importance of this game.

Edit: and judging by those highlights he was completely relaxed doing it. Not feeling the pressure at all.

Can Axford hold the lead though?

Solid?

I think your expectations are a little high if today's performance was only solid.

They win again, a 5-1 homestand.

Next is the most important Brewers/Pirates series ever.

[jjfanec]

Astros take the lead over the Phillies

Pirates lead down to 1 over Chicago

[SoCal Brew Crew Fan]

Go Stros! Up 7-4.

[jjfanec]

This is so fun. I thought I would be score board watching in September to see how high of pick the Brewers were going to get!

[nate82]

Peralta joins Greinke and Fiers as the only Brewers pitchers to go more than 7 IP this year. Greinke 3 times, Peralta 1, and Fiers 1.

[owbc]

Yikes, Pedro Alvarez just crushed that one, an opposite-field shot onto Waveland.

9-5 Pirates.

[jvrocksaz]

Cubs making their way back into it....

[jvrocksaz]

and the Cubs take the lead! Grand Slam by Rizzo...

[BrewerTerp]

grand slam puts the cubs up 10-9!

[stalton]

Philly down to 3 outs before they lose as well

[pebadger]

And the Dodgers have tied the Cards at 2. Even though they're even, have to cheer for the Dodgers at this point, if only on principle.

Exactly!

[pebadger]

Not to kill the general euphoria, but I just can't get over the fact that the Brewers are second in save opportunities in the NL and second to last in save percentage. Just being at the NL average puts 7 more wins on the ledger and has the Crew up by at least 5 for the second WC.

[jvrocksaz]

Astros hold on to beat the Phillies! That helps as well!

[stalton]

Philly Loses!! Even if the Brewers don't make it, the excitement of the chase is what makes baseball so fun.

Exactly right. For most intents and purposes, this IS playoff baseball, which is more than any of us could have asked for as little as 3 weeks ago.

Exactly, this is what I've been saying all week!

The remainder of this season is our playoffs! Every game is crucial.

Anything after the regular season is a bonus!
