Do the Brewers have a pitching coach?

If they do he should be fired.

Braun just can't buy a hit right now.

I need to say this, but now that Gennett was called up (thanks Doug Melvin!) RR wont be under any pressure to keep Weeks in the line-up due to the money he's owed. Meaning if RR keeps playing Rickie Weeks the blame should be squarely on him and not Doug Melvin.

I can't be the only one who keeps thinking of Ron Villone every time the A's pitcher's name is called.

If there is any organizational plan to work against Weeks's 2015 vesting option, you can be certain that Roenicke will have strict orders to follow from Melvin.

Man, it's the same couple of posters that just ruin these in-game threads. The same tired cliches, the same horrible logic. This is where people used to go to escape this crap and have intelligent discussions about the Brewers. Most of the posters that had anything of substance to offer are long gone, though. presuming I was ever one of them, you can add me to that list.

They've also been a darn good franchise over the past decade+. They averaged 88 wins/season from 1999-2012. All while following the talent cycling franchise-building model that many on this site have been calling for. Sure, they've had stretches where they haven't contended -- and the fans that view/ed 'Moneyball' as some kind of ivory-tower nonsense make sure to crow loudly -- but they don't panic, they don't change the approach, and before too much longer a new run of contention arrives.

Nice to see Rickie wake up a bit at the plate! Hopefully this can be the still-way-too-late kick-start he so badly needs.

I think that thing had so much backspin on it that it came back into the park without hitting anything. It's a magic bullet.

Looks like something lit a fire under Rickie. On another note, this is another reason that I don't like replay. We are going to have a delay here, and what is the call if that's not a home run? It's certainly not a double.

I thought that was a homer at first but after looking at it it looks like he hit the top of the wall and bounced forward instead of bouncing back and hitting the wall. Bill just needs to shut up when it comes to replay.

Let me break it down for you. When the team plays well, people will be happy, and this kind of venting won't go on. When the team is playing awfully, you should expect this, as people are frustrated. If it crawls under your skin, here's a suggestion. Don't read the game threads when the Brewers are getting their butts handed to them.

As far as the "there's a lack of intelligent discussion" comment, really? Look at the "general thoughts on the franchise" thread. There's been a bunch of great discussion there.

I think you're a real hypocrite, to be honest. You're calling people out for doing the exact same thing you do.

I feel like I have already watched this game about 20 times this year.

EDIT: Apparently I should just have edited my first post as I am the only one commenting on another train wreck of a game.

Why am I still watching this?

I'm glad I am almost done having to watch Yuni B refuse to walk on an almost daily basis. Instead of loading the bases, he hits into a double play to end the inning.

Ya, you're a real bastion of sunshine in these game threads. :rolleyes

Yup, I know they've been a very good team. I watch Moneyball every couple of weeks. :laughing Just making the point that success and the amount of money spent are not at all directly proportional. We've spent over $27 million more than the A's this year, and they're clearly the better team.

The reason the A's have remained competitive without a lot of money is that they can draft and develop good players. And when those players move on, they find other pieces that fit their roster well.

I guess it just really bothers me seeing teams with far lesser resources doing so much better than we are, only because they are better managed (from a financial and in-game perspective).

Then there is really no need to keep playing Weeks at all.

Couldn't have said it better Stache. When your team is on pace to lose 100 games most of the comments will be negative and critical.....why would that be at all surprising? lol

When I was calling for Scooter to come up earlier in the season, it wasn't with the hopes that Gennett would provide drastically improved performance at second, but more that it might provide some competition that might break Rickie out of whatever torpor he's been in all season.

Even if Rickie does turn it around, which I hope he does so we can trade him, I'd still limit his AB's to prevent that vesting option. Rickies major slumps each year are enough to make it not worth the risk no matter what he does from here on out.
