Speaking of Melvin, this is another trade made before the day of the deadline. Whether trading for someone or trading away a player, Doug is decisive and doesn't seem the type who needs to wait until the last minute before pulling the trigger.

I have to think Delmonico slots in as a top 5 prospect for us, possibly as high as #2. I'm now hopeful that we can get similar return for Axford.

Axford will probably be moved too. Likely getting non-tendered in the offseason and has been lights out the last few months. I'd move Gorzelanny too. I don't really care if we go into August with 7 new relievers.

Yes if the Pitt closer is out the Pirates will have to be he most desperate. I think someone will knock the socks off melvin looking for a reliever. I wonder what postion player has been asked for too.

If his defense was already good at third to go with his bat, odds are slim he could have been had for K-Rod.
