2007 Vent Thread, Part 7

No doubt RU...just look at the improvement by Weeks. To me, it all started with better discpiline at the plate. He started getting walks, it translated into getting better pitches to hit and now he's got the whole package going. His eye at the plate has been terrific of late. Braun lacks discpline sometimes, but he's young and he's Braun. Even Hardy & Hart have their moments, but are overall solid. Mench, Jenks, Hall...too much Rob Deer/Jose Valentin IMO. I'd like to see one of those spots replaced with an OBP guy. Maybe Gross is our guy.

Since this thread is already cluttered with Yost hate, I'll vent on someone else.

Johny Estrada. He's my least favorite player by a mile. Sub .300 OBP, zero hustle, is slower than molasses, can't throw out a runner to save his life, and is terrible defensively behind the plate. The DD trade looks worse and worse everyday.

Lately I've been frustrated with Billy Hall. For August, he has an OPS of .600 (.185/.230/.370). But, actually, Estrada hasn't exactly been lighting it up, either. His OPS for the month is even worse -- .598.

The difference between Hall and Estrada is you can tell Hall really wants it. He wants to win, he wants to do everything in his power to help this team. When he strikes out, he yells. He gives it his all in the outfield. Estrada on the other hand looks like he was ready to pack it up at the end of June. He doesn't run balls out, he doesn't do well defensively, and when he strikes out in a big situation, he puts his head down and walks back to the dugout. Estrada just doesn't look like he cares anymore.

Egads and Amen.

I just about cried when I saw that play the other night where Theriot (?) got upended at second base and made a throw to 1st that bounced at least a half a dozen times, and Estrada was still out by 20-25 feet.

That is almost the defining picture of what the Brewers are putting out on the field right now.

This is an odd one, just to forewarn: even though I don't love Estrada...

Stupid baseballs! Always jumping up into his face & chest!

Seriously, that guy took a pounding tonight. Well done, Johnny - he's nothing if not tough.

why pitch to lee with 2 outs

Because walking the tieing run into scoring position is incredibly foolish

The odds of Lee driving in a run from 1st almost has to be smaller than the odds of fontenot driving one in from second.

still a better option than lee

Only in hindsight. Lee is not more likely to hit a double or HR than Ward was to get a hit of any kind. Sure if the runner were on 2nd I'd agree but there is no reason to put the go ahead run on 1st there.

AQUINO? Ned is out of his tiny little freaking mind.

What an absolutely horrific inning. Estrada whiffs on two passed balls.

Unbelievable, moronic, stupidity and half-assed play of horrifically nauseating proportings.

Aquino? Are you serious?

.

Ned Yost is an idiot. Of all the idiotic moves so far this year...today takes the cake. I can't wait to see that clown as a Nationals bench coach next year.

Idiot.

I'll just copy and paste what I wrote in my last vent thread post from back on April 17th.

"it bothers me that some move wasn't made to the bullpen in this close of a game. All we needed was one out, and a fresh arm like Cordero (Turnbow) could have recorded that out. I will blame a manager for not making a decision that most managers, and even most people watching the game, would have made."

That's talking about Aquino. The situation was a little different, but the quote still applies.
