It's really too bad the post counter got reset because I'm sure this is going to be highest viewed thread ever. It was already at like 150K I think. And it's only going to grow even more when a verdict is finally rendered. I check this at least 5 times a day alone. Not sure if that's sad or not.

When Braun is found innocent

What about if he is only found "not guilty?" ;)

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

So I get home from work today, flip on ESPN. And see that the MLB tag on the bottom line is highlighted...due to breaking news. So I sit and stare at it impatiently until it makes it all the way to it, seemed like an eternity. Then it finally comes up and it's about Manny Ramirez. Man was I disappointed, annoyed, mad and a lot of other things. GRRR.

I was at BWW yesterday and saw this same thing...except when I looked up and saw it I saw "Breaking News", and the text scrolling by just said "will have to serve a 50 game suspension"...I assumed that the Braun verdict had come down and he was guilty. I hung my head and didn't look at the rest until about 10 min. later when I saw the entire message this time and realized it was about Ramirez! Then it was mixed relief that Braun hadn't been founf guilty yet, and annoyance that the verdict still hadn't been announced.

Was doing some reading about the JC Romero case from a few years back. Interesting reading for those wanting to learn more about the process with a set of facts different from the Braun case. You can come to some interesting speculative conclusions if you read between the lines a bit, especially with regard to MLB looking out for the testing program above all else.

In the end Romero got suspended (after the key arbitrator had a change of heart), but he settled a lawsuit with the supplement people/GNC just about a month ago, so that relieved some of the financial hit. I don't think it's unfair to argue that Romero was the least culpable of any of the parties in that situation (player, union, MLB, supplement people, government) and he's the only one who paid any price.

Easy links to be had simply by googling.

I would love nothing more than to login here this afternon or later this morning and see joyous posts and links to a not guilty verdict. I hope for this every day and it's yet to happen. I'm starting to get a sinking feeling that it's never going to either.

Kemp told that 4 letter network La that he does not want want the mvp by default and his backing braun, I must say Kemp is stand up good guy.

This is silly though. The BWAA already said a couple months ago that they won't have a re-vote even if Braun is suspended. It's not up to Kemp or anyone else to take the award from Braun. Just one of those "slow news day" things that gets more play than it should, I guess.

Edit: I do think today is the day that we hear something on Braun. Then again, I admit I've said this two or three times already.

Matt V. was on WKLH this morning and said that they were all set to go to Surprise for the Yu D. presser, but they were instructed by MLB Network to go to Maryvale as there may be news breaking today. He didn't say much else other than he expects a decision by tomorrow at the latest. Remember, ymmv.

I refuse to get optimistic about this so I don't have a major let down when the bad news comes. I come here every couple of hours expecting to here that he is suspended. That being said the interview with Braun after he wins the appeal would be must see TV and I would very interested in watching the coverage of the "acquittal" on the sports networks by all the various blowhards.

I just want to know what the heck happened; the actual outcome of the appeal is almost secondary to me. Yeah him being suspending for 50 games will suck but if he is suspended for some random dumb reason regarding a weird test and not because they guy was doing PED's in his MVP season will make me feel a lot better about the guy going forward.

I don't take this as a good sign really. If they know exactly when something is going to be announced as breaking news, to me that would seem to indicate he's being suspended. Hope I'm wrong.

My initial thought was that this can't be good as well. Although, if Vasgersian said it could come today or tomorrow at the latest, hopefully that means they know the decision will come and it will be up to Braun to announce it.

Being the first player to publicly win a drug appeal would be breaking news. But I fear the instructions were so they can descend like vultures to interview all of the players about a suspension.

I am ready for the suspension, losing our pitching staff, and going back to being a bad team. Hey, two playoff series wins in 45 years is good, right?

Yeah, that's my thoughts really. Is that he's going to be suspended and that will be the breaking news. I can't see how MLB Network would know that Braun was planning on letting everyone know he was not guilty. If he is not guilty I would expect we hear about it through sources first, then he'll make a statement or schedule a press conference later that day or something.

This to me seems like he's going to be suspended, MLB will announce it and all the media will be there to ask the Brewers and everyone else what they think about it.

I guess the breaking news could be something other than Braun, but it doesn't seem like it. I feel bad. :(

What if they plan the news conference to thoroughly explain what went wrong in the process in order to try to have the public keep a high view of the testing process? If Braun were to be found not guilty I would think MLB would want to do damage control right off the bat to show why their testing process was still trustworthy and what steps were being put in place so this didnt happen again.

The other thoughts make sense to me as well, but i just dont fully see why MLB would want to help create a media circus for one of its young stars being suspended
